Zoe’s POV
Muffled voices woke me from the abyss, but I couldn’t make out what they were saying. I was conscious, but I couldn’t move my body or open my eyes. The pain was too much to bear, so I gave up and succumbed to the darkness again.
The next time I awoke, they were clearer.
“When will she wake up, doctor? It’s been two days. Shouldn’t we have seen some progress by now?”
I knew that voice. It was Eddie, he was here. I managed to get him out of the way. He was okay. I tried to move my body or open my eyes again, but the pain was still there, a little less than before but still all-consuming. I wanted to move something, even twitch a finger so he knew I could hear him, but nothing was cooperating.
“It takes time, especially with head injuries as server as hers.” I heard someone exp
