Chapter Twenty-Six I may have been rudely ejected from that awful room, but I was so glad to be out of there. I was taken to a cafeteria but the food was unrecognisable. The girl behind the counter looked to be about fourteen with her long black hair tied into plaits and her tear-smudged eye makeup. She served up a few dishes of some mushy-looking food and passed me a drink as she attempted a conversation. I wasn’t in the mood to talk. I thanked her and sat at a nearby table. I was the only person in here and I guessed that they’d planned it that way so they could limit my contact with people. I had no idea what I was eating, but two out of the three dishes tasted okay.
