Chapter Eleven
The next morning, I had my breakfast and showered, ready for whatever they had planned for me, but was surprised when Conleth didn’t come in for a lesson. The nurses didn’t come in to poke at me or take me to a lab. Starrick didn’t show his face either. If the tests were no longer needed, I would have been happy, but no one had said anything about it the day before. This wasn’t right.
I sat at my table and tried to relax and sit still, but started pacing instead.
As it approached lunch time I began to worry. There had to be something wrong. I wondered what could have happened to break them from their routine.
I started to hope that they hadn’t come in because they were taking me to Jannali today, but that was foolish. I couldn’t afford to hope.
