11Samantha approached Lydia when she was arranging a dinner in their dining room. She had been puzzling over something in her room. What Lyra had said but a few days ago had made a large impact on Samantha. She needed to find out more about it, but she would have to do so in a way that didn’t involve Lyra.
She had already spent so much time around that girl she swore that she was going to get a headache if she had to think about how her moves might affect someone else on their climb to power. It was hard work keeping Lyra in line. She knew that if she gave the girl any more power, she would have a dangerous creature indeed on her hands. She didn’t want to have to deal with that. That would definitely give Samantha a headache.
