CHAPTER 6

THE FOREST

Betty's POV:

It's been a few weeks since I have been here,since I had found Jasper,he had told me how he had been sold here..and how he had looked for me..about the friends he had made and everything else.

It was nice hearing him chatter happily with a smile on his face telling me his stories in that house we weren't able to do that...to be happy ,to be free..but here we were,they people were friendly each having their own story..I was trying to let my guard,let them in but I guessed I only needed time. Sometimes I wondered what would have happened if the other omegas I was locked up with followed me, would they have found peace and happiness here as well,were they okay?,was anyone alive?...and some other times I found myself waking up in the night and when I didn't find Jasper beside me,I began to panic and became anxious,look around but would always seem to find him sleepily coming out of the toilet,it would take me an hour to finally calm down and go back to sleep when he was right beside me,safe and sound..yes I was scared and I knew that maybe my physical wounds had healed but my mental injuries were so far from healing but I was trying and needed to take steps to heal though I knew that nightmare would always be a part of me.

I was seated down by the lake rocks with Emilia washing some clothes,over the time I had been here we had somehow grown closer,she was carefree,funny and chatty,we were different but just seemed to go well together, she always started and lead the conversations while I listened and occasionally spoke,being the quiet type..it was a great combination and it felt nice to have a friend..

"Betty, just imagine how it would feel to find one's mate,just thinking about it makes my wolf purr..someone that would love and never hurt you..”she squealed excitedly,I watched as those blue eyes of hers seemed to lit up at the word "mate”.

"I wonder what mine would be like,I hope he isn't from this park that way we can finally be free from the hold of our Alpha”, Emilia added but when she spoke about our Alpha,I felt the venom in her voice and the hate that flashed in her eyes but she easily pushed it away and kept talking,which reminded me that as chatty as she was,she had a scare and story of her own.

“You know I'm sure when you find your mate,he will be perfect for you,I just know it.. after all you're a wonderful she wolf”,I told her meaning every word I said,she was really nice,kind and funny .

“Aww thanks, I feel like I could just tear up, I'm sure that would be the same for you too”, she laughed, while I offered her a small smile.

“Let's hurry up, I still need to head to the forest to collect herbs for Rosia”,I told her, getting back to the washing up.

“Okay okay, it's times like this that makes you sound more like Rosia, maybe I should start calling you mini-Rosia”,she chuckled.

“Please don't”,I warned her but as usual the girl never listens.

“Mini- Rosia!!”,she yelled, laughing at the top of her voice as I chased after her.

“You just had to say it, didn't you?. You will regret saying it ,when I get my hands on you”,I told her as I chased after her, unknowingly I found myself laughing,just having fun and being free.

“Stop right there!”,I yelled at her.

“Never!”,she yelled back, sprinting to my left.

Maybe this was home,I thought as I finally caught her. We both stumbled on each other and fell onto the carpet grass but that didn't stop us from breaking into laughter together once again.

I didn't know when we finally finished washing the clothes but it was already getting dark, when I headed to the forest in search of herbs for Rosia. Emilia couldn't come with me because she was a little preoccupied.. with chasing after her brother. I couldn't help but laugh a little, remembering how she was chasing after him holding a Frying-pan,while screaming his name to stop running.I don't think anyone in their right senses would stop running if you told them to.

I followed the sounds of the crickets knowing they would lead me to the herbs I was looking for as Rosia had shown me before. There was a small meadow near a couple of tall trees with varieties of different herbs and immediately I got down to work wanting to be back before nightfall,so I could have dinner with Jasper.I smiled at that enjoying the ability to think about today and tomorrow without fear of what it could bring.

“I smell something”,Eva said all of a sudden in my head through the mind-link,which made me sniff the air a little more.

“It's coming from there”,she told me, urging me to go closer,which was really strange because whenever she felt something off,she was usually the one that would howl at me to get out of there…but this time, something was different.

“Is anything wrong?”,I asked her, hesitating to walk any closer.

“I don't know..I just feel we should go there”,she answered mysteriously which wasn't helpful at all.

It was up to me to choose whether I should just leave or go closer. I slowly walked closer not realizing how much in the future I would look back and constantly regret this exact moment,I should have walked away..if I did, I might have never met him,it all would have never happened..just what ifs but I think as I walked closer,my fate was already sealed and I would have to find out the hard way..
