CHAPTER 7

1871 Words
SHE'S AN OMEGA I made my way to the bushes, peeking through. I hid behind a tree, spotting the source of the overwhelming stench of blood,Eva had picked up that was in the air. There was a black furred wolf, the blackest fur I had ever seen with strange beautiful electric golden eyes but the wolf seemed terribly injured and was bleeding a lot. I was tempted to help him but hesitated knowing through the hard way how helping another werewolf could go so wrong especially from how large the wolf was, I was sure it definitely wasn't an omega and from the scent,he was male. It didn't help that I couldn't sense his Park ranking or determine his placement in the Park or if he was even from this park because I hadn't shifted yet. More reasons why I should turn back and act like I never saw anything,I had to think of myself and couldn't be careless. That's what I had in mind but Eva thought otherwise and kept pouncing around through our mind link. “You know we shouldn't go closer,it is dangerous. He might attack us”,I tried to reason with her. She was giving me a headache and I for one didn't like this new Eva, whatever was up with her. “We should save him,we can't just walk away, he could die”,she countered, and I almost rolled my eyes, wondering when she suddenly became so caring. I and Eva were of course different in many ways but we always agreed on putting our safety first but now I really couldn't understand her. “There is absolutely nothing you can say that will make me change my mind, this has nothing to do with us”,and I meant it. I was walking away, when she spoke again. “Betty..I don't understand this feeling but all I know is we have to..save him”, Eva said. I cursed under my breath a little, knowing almost by instinct I was going to regret this.. but when you have Eva as your wolf, there are just some things that you have to do…I owe her that after everything…she's done for me. There were times when I was little I couldn't handle the pain of being beaten. She would take over and bear it for me. Aside from Jasper,we had always had each other and if she really wanted us to save that black wolf, she would probably have her reasons. “I just know I'm going to regret this”, I turned around, heading back to where the wolf was. I could almost imagine Eva's wolfy grin. The black wolf notices her presence and lifts his head up and growls, warning her to stay away. Subconsciously she flinches and hesitates going any closer before mustering a little courage to speak. “I won't hurt you,you seemed injured I just wanted to treat you with..my herbs”,Betty tells the wolf, hoping that he listens to her and calms down, while a part of her still wonders why she was even risking her life to help him when she should have run away and blamed Eva for talking her into this. The black wolf watched her, seeming to be contemplating and leveling her words. He knew he was seriously injured and was losing a lot of blood but he wasn't sure if he should trust her or if such a young she wolf could help him with his injuries, she could just make everything worse but it annoyed him,he didn't much of a choice as he knew, if he kept bleeding out,he would lose consciousness which would be a problem adding that he was in the middle of nowhere and anything could happen at night with him passed out. This was all those rogues fault,he should have killed them immediately rather than drag out the fight against seven of them, giving them a chance to injure him. He had no choice, either he died by bleeding out or by the girl's hands. “I can turn back if you don't want my help, it's not like I can force you though I'm pretty sure you would bleed out to death”, he looked at her,the corners of his wolfy mouth seemed to twitch a little, the girl in front of him had audacity especially when she standing a few steps from a wolf twice her size and could kill her in second, maybe it was audacity or stupidity but it surprised him,he couldn't remember the last time, someone had spoken to him like this, they usually couldn't even finish a sentence without stammering from fear…but from the way..her hands clenched the basket she was holding..he knew very well she was afraid as well. It also surprised him that his wolf 'Kevin’ wasn't angry in the slightest if not more intrigued by her,he couldn't quite understand it but there was something about her that he just couldn't place, couldn't comprehend. Hesitantly he stopped growling, bending over to rest his head on the ground, showing that he wasn't going to attack her,if she came closer. “ I'm coming closer don't bite me,okay?”, She muttered out, which gained her an eye roll from the black wolf. He would have attacked her from the beginning if he had really wanted to. Betty comes closer and sits beside him, placing her basket of herbs down, she was still cautious knowing that though his head was down,he could still attack her and if she wasn't fast enough to dodge, she could get hurt. She looked through the basket contemplating on what to do,she didn't exactly know much but she knew how to at least stop the bleeding, which was the major problem by using a herb called ‘Elizabeth’ and preventing the injury from getting infected. She placed her right hand on his black fur and was surprised to find out how soft it actually was,it was softer than it looked. She then marshes the herbs with a rough stone nearby and gets to work on the injury. The Black Wolf POV: Unknown to her,the black wolf laid down but from the corner of his eyes,he watched her. He wondered why she was helping him especially when she didn't seem like she wanted to. “Does it really matter, she's helping us that's all that matters”, ‘Kevin’ his wolf voiced out, annoyed that he was thinking too deep into this. “But I don't trust her..there is something off about her…she isn't our mate if she was ,you would have said something,I would have felt the sparks but..”,I trailed off . Now she was closer,I noticed her hair was actually a light honey brown, and her large eyes which I thought from afar were blue, were actually a sea green now she was closer,it was strange how they seemed to darken with her every action,it was almost like it could capture everything and held its own story. She had a slight tanned complexion with a small nose and pale pink lips, her lower lip appeared slightly bigger than her upper lip but seemed to suit her perfectly and not appear strange, she had a small frame and I couldn't help but wonder how short she would look if she stood beside me in my human form. All in all she was beautiful, that type of beauty, you could accidentally overlook but when you looked closer she was there in her own world, staring back at you with those beautiful sea green eyes that seemed to have a story of their own. I wanted to ask her name.. know something about her..which made it stranger cause I was sure she wasn't my mate..but that didn't stop me from strangely being curious about her and was equally attracted to her. What annoyed me even more, was it hadn't even been thirty minutes since I met this girl. I sniffed the air a little more wanting to be sure, whether she really wasn't my mate with the way she affected me so much. I froze a little, when I realized from her scent, something I should have realized the moment I saw her, from the get on that she was an omega. She was one of them and she wasn't his mate. I felt annoyed and disappointed but covered it up with reminding myself how much I hated omegas. “ Does it even matter whether she is an omega or not?”Kevin asked me,not liking where my thoughts were going. Sometimes it made me wonder how different we were with him being my wolf and for the most part I ignored him. “All omegas are the same”, I believed they were..no I was sure they were. I despised them and I didn't think anything could ever change that. I growled at her. Caroline's POV: He growled again at me, it annoyed me,how much his growl reminded me of my father and I hated myself for it, for still being afraid of that man. I glanced at the black wolf,he seemed agitated for no reason, especially when we hadn't said a word to each other. I couldn't trust him not to attack me, when I was done treating him and knew I had to do something. I tore a piece off my dress, this would have to do as I wrapped it around the injury, tying it tightly. I heaved a tired sigh as I inspected my work, now it was time to go. I stood up, grabbing my basket. “You know you should form a habit of not growling at people that are trying to help you” she chirped in,which gained her a snot and low growl. The wolf watched her, still annoyed that she was an omega. He didn't like how high and mighty she acted, especially when she was an omega, she was even trying to teach him manners. To an Alpha like him,he believed that omegas should always know their place, that they were beneath everyone else, that they were simply dirty, weak wolves that shouldn't even be called werewolves and he didn't like that she didn't know her place. He attempted standing up but suddenly felt dizzy and stumbled back. He looked at her, finding it difficult to still keep his eyes open and wondered why he was feeling so sleepy…did she..he trailed off..not understanding when she was able to drug him…he was sure he had been watching her. “You should probably be feeling dizzy and sleepy right about now…it's nothing dangerous but this should knock you out for a while, just for my protection so you can't attack or follow me”, she dusted her clothes before looking at him again. “It's not like we are going to see each other again,so if it helps you can think of this as payment for me treating you”,she added..walking away. He tried standing up again but fell over, whatever she used he couldn't fight l it off. He could feel the darkness calling out to him as he slowly watched her disappear into the woods. Before he closed his eyes, he promised that if he ever caught her again,he would make her regret this…and with that he blacked out.
