CHAPTER 8

CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT HER

Alex POV:

I woke up with a splitting pain in my head,it took a while to organize my thoughts but I was back in my room in the Park House and now in human form,they must have found me and sometime in-between I must have shifted back . I groaned.. feeling like I was forgetting something.. something important but I couldn't place my finger on what it was. I also noticed I was shirtless and only wearing a pair of shorts. I looked down at where I had been injured,there were bandages wrapped around my waist covering most of the injuries,give it two days or more it will heal.

I slowly placed my hand under my pillow and without warning threw a dagger at the person watching me in the shadows, trying to hide their presence. From the moment I woke up, I felt like someone else was in the room and though he tried to hide his scent, I could smell him a mile away and just knew who it was..who would have the audacity to try and sneak up on me.

“Luis..” I muttered dryly, looking at him as he lazily rested on the wooden board. My beta and second in command 'Luis Woods’. The way his cold blue eyes seemed to darken as they stared back at mine as he held out his left hand catching the flying dagger at him with two of his fingers.

“I missed..I must really be getting too old..over my prime”, I ran my hand into my black hair, ruffling it up a little more,if it wasn't already messy before and then getting out of bed and heading to the dresser to get a shirt to wear.

He glared at me before glancing at the dagger that I had just thrown at him.

“Get out” I told him, finally feeling comfortable as I poured myself a glass of whiskey , hoping it would help to ease the annoying headache.

He walked towards me,pouring himself a glass and gulping it down all at once. I glanced at him,compared to me with his neat blonde hair styled in place and his elegant and dignified demeanor and enough muscles to show you shouldn't underestimate him,he looked more like royalty than me. I looked more like a beast with broad shoulders,an adequate amount of muscles,raven black hair that somehow always appeared out of place and a pair of golden eyes,said to be a gift from the Moon-goddess. My name is Alex Crude,the Alpha of Dark Fall Park, the strongest Park in America .

“Alpha, you know the healer advised you not to drink..”..he trailed off…knowing I wasn't gonna listen and smartly gave up sighing.. “Do you know how worried I was, you just suddenly disappeared,what happened?.. especially when all the trackers could pick up was only your faint scent intertwined with the smell of your blood but couldn't find you”,he stared back at me waiting for an answer.

“I was attacked.. by a few stinking rouges and.. mistakenly let my guard down while dragging out the fight and got attacked from behind”,I told him,gulping down another glass, knowing I should have killed them the minute I saw them, rather than dragging out the fight.

“They seemed to have breached through our borders from our weak spot,where we don't have many wolves stationed at..but the question is how they knew how our patrol pattern worked,they didn't seem that they expected to get caught.. except someone told them,we might just have a rat by our side”,I pondered, feeling agitated with the possibility of there being a rat, leaking information to my persistent enemies.

“I'll investigate everything right away and get wolves patrolling that area..”,he answered immediately, ready to leave but stopped in his tracks.

“ At least you're back now..by the time we found you,you were knocked out on the floor out cold..the healer said that though it appeared like an amateur healer treated you first..they might have just saved your life..if not you could have bleed out to the death before we could even have found you..aside from a knocked out you,we also found a faint trace of a shewolf's scent”, Luis summarized, seeming interested but as usual had that dutiful expression on his face.

“A shewolf's scent?”

Almost like a trigger,I began to remember everything..she was an omega and how she drugged me. The glass in my hand broke, I didn't realize how much pressure I was putting on it. Luis flinched feeling the change in my demeanor and how my eyes were glowing..she drugged me..it was setting in.. and I didn't like being undermined especially by an omega.

“Your hand?”,Luis muttered. It wouldn't be the first time, Luis had seen me have an outburst and he knew how violent I could become. I shook my hand letting the small fragments of glass fall out and watched how the wound healed right up like it was never there, leaving behind only a sign of dried blood that I had been injured just a minute ago.

“ One more thing,I want you to find that she wolf,track down her scent..” I trailed off. When I get my hands on her,the first thing I was going to do was wipe that cocky look off her face.

“The scent must have been long gone by now, especially since it rained yesterday.. Alpha,by chance is she your.. mate?” Luis asked, looking at me probably confused to why I was searching for a shewolf except she was probably..my mate..with me being mateless even after five years of turning eighteen,I could feel his worry,I needed a mate and the park needed a Luna but as time went on,I slowly lost hope of finding her and believed this was the way the moon-goddess wanted to punish me for being so ruthless by leaving me mateless..and that shewolf was no different,she wasn't my mate.. I paused before answering..

“ ..No she isn't..”, I shrugged off before continuing “..Find the closest place to the forest that an omega could be in”, and even if she was.. would it change anything, after all she was an omega and all omegas were the same simple conniving selfish excuses of wolves..only useful for pleasure or labor.. nothing more, nothing less.

“Yes, Alpha” and with that Luis left, leaving me with my own unsettling confusing thoughts.

“What really was I doing?”,I sighed tiredly before slouching back on my chair, grabbing another glass of whiskey..my thoughts elsewhere and everywhere.

A Few Days Later…

It's been six days to be exact,since I returned back to the Park House and since I met her in the forest.

I closed my eyes, running my hand through my raven black hair. I had never really slept well,four to five hours of sleep a day, wasn't really an ideal sleeping plan but after meeting that cocky shewolf in the forest just a few days ago,I could hardly get any shut eye,barely being able to sleep for only two hours and my restlessness or fatigue must have been showing because Luis was asking questions.. questions I didn't even know the answers to

-what was wrong with me?,

-why couldn't I stop thinking of her?... when for goddess sake she wasn't my mate. She was almost everywhere in my thoughts and dreams and for the most part I didn't think I could evade nor escape her..if I hadn't made sure when catching her scent,I would have suspected she was some kind of succubus or witch especially when Kevin wasn't helping matters at all..I felt like I was close to losing my sanity with how high my already fragile temper kept appearing from lack of sleep. Kevin was trying to take over control and search for her himself..she might not have been our mate but it didn't stop nor hide that Kevin and I felt something..a primal desire towards her..maybe by instinct and after not finding and having a mate for so long, he wouldn't mind having a chosen mate..it was almost like a switch in my head I didn't know was there was suddenly switched on,but I was different and that is where we disagreed I couldn't have an omega as a mate.

As days went by,it was getting harder and harder to suppress him.. and I was on edge that he could break out anytime. I wondered if this was only a simple attraction..I had..had my own fair share of female shewolves but I had never felt like this..no.. I couldn't be feeling anything..she was a filthy omega but yet here I was..

I heard someone calling out to me and looked up to look at the person,it was Luis and he appeared worried.

“Alpha.. Alpha Alex..Alpha!!”,how long had he been calling me and when did he get in front of me,I looked around to find everyone staring at me, waiting for my response. Yes,I was in a park meeting,I reminded myself wondering how I spaced out.. and barely remembering what we were even talking about..it was getting worse..I could barely concentrate on anything,right now.

I stood up, heading to the door,which shocked everyone.

“You are all dismissed,we will continue this in our next meeting”, I announced walking out ,while Luis followed behind me..his eyes following me with so many thoughts and questions. This wasn't like me.

“You were right. We found the rat giving information to our enemies,his name's Grey Tomson, what should we do to him?”

“Torture him,so he spills out who of our enemies he had been in contact with and what he told them, afterwards kill him. And those Parks trying to go against us..”,I trailed off..my eyes flashing..a dangerous gold..”Wipe everyone of them out and leave only the weak to carry over their bloodline,that way they will never think about going against us ever again”

“Yes Alpha”,he nodded.

“And the she wolf?” I asked, pausing in my tracks.

“..We haven't found her yet but we are close..”,he answered

“ When you find her,let me know immediately” I told him,hoping it would be soon.

“ I will let you know, when we do find her”, I nodded at him and headed into my office.

“I have some paperwork to go through, I'll skip lunch,you can go ahead without me,greet Lizzy for me”, Lizzy was Luis’s mate,he met her,when we went to another pack for an Alpha and beta conference.

He smiled at that,at the thought of his mate,his eyes filled with love at the mention of her. Something I had yet to find.

“Will do”,he smiled.

I shut the door. My head was rigging as I got to my desk and began going through the papers that required my signatures. A few hours in,I didn't realize when I had slept off but in my dreams, I was in a field and there was a woman sitting near the lake. She had beautiful honey brown hair and an evergreen large pair of eyes that held so much fear in them but yet appeared unwilling to give up. She smiled at me and I felt dazed and before I could go any closer I woke up by the sound of the door being slammed open.

I growled knowing who it was.

“What the hell..”, but he cut me short.

“We have found her”
