Chapter 2: Ginny's Mate

1475 Words
Ginny made sure to check over every detail before going and getting ready herself. Her room was on the same floor as the Alpha's as they were all family. The pack house was similar to a modern hotel, but with much larger living quarters. The Alpha, Beta and Gamma families all lived in the Pack house along with the staff, warriors and un-mated young wolfs. There was a gym, kitchen, dining hall, library, ballroom and a few rec rooms. The offices were on the top floor, which there were six of in total. The pack house had a nice, clean, modern feel to it. A few hundred people lived in the pack house itself and many more lived in houses all around the pack house. It was a very tight knit community. The rest of the pack lived in a small town nearby which was inhabited by many wolves from the Night Flox Pack, but it also had some humans (none of who knew about wolves, of course). The town was only a thirty minute walk away from the pack house and had many shops, apartments, and parks. Ginny ran up to her room. She had chosen a simple, yet classy, green fit and flare dress. The cloth had a slight shimmer to it, complimenting Ginny's green eyes. She let her hair down out of the sleek ponytail it had been in all day and made up her amber hair into a half down style with loose curls. Ginny wasn't much for dressing up, so this simple change would have to do. Ginny pulled a necklace out from inside her dress. It was a long pendant necklace with a symbol on it of two wolves forming a sort of yin and yang. Ginny had had it since she was found as a pup, but she never knew what it meant. She always kept it with her and wore it under her clothes every day. It was the only clue she had as to who she was before she was adopted. She looped the chain so the pendant hung just off her collar bone. She applied a bit of make-up to the best of her ability. She didn't have time to care about girly things like this, but she wanted to look dressed up at least. This was a special occasion, after all. After glancing in the mirror to make sure nothing looked off, Ginny was ready. You look fantastic. Our future mate is going to feel like the luckiest wolf around! Bri hummed happily. Bri might have been a big tough wolf, but she was nothing but a big softy. Ginny hoped Maxim would hurry up and turn eighteen already. Then her wolf could have her mate every day. Ginny met up with her friends Rachel, Brittany and her mate Rory on the third floor, where Rachel had a room. Rachel and Brittany looked amazing in their elegant gowns and Rory cut a pretty good picture in his blazer and dark jeans. Ginny thought about how lucky Brittany was to have found her mate right after turning eighteen. Not to mention he was handsome with his sandy hair and dazzling hazel eyes. He always seemed at ease wherever he was. Ginny had just started to think about how amazing the mate bond was when she heard someone walking up to them. She turned in time to see Maxim walking up the hall to join them. His dark hair was combed back, and he was clean shaven. He wore dark jeans, a deep navy blazer and a green button up with a dark tie. His blazer looked tight on his fore arms. "My, you two match!" Brittany pointed out, looking back and forth between Ginny and Maxim. She grinned. "We do." Maxim said smoothly. He stepped up to Ginny, alarmingly close. Ginny blushed again as Maxim slid his hand around her waist. "Shall we?" He asked, smiling his sweet crooked grin. Ginny felt like they floated down to the ballroom. It was like heaven to be linked up with such a handsome guy. She was sure to be the envy of all the un-mated she wolves at the ceremony. Maxim never took his hand off of her waist the whole walk down. The room had nice ambiant lighting, and was full of people in high spirits. There was a short stage at one end of the room with a higher one to the side. On the higher stage there was a long table set for the Current Alpha and his family, the new Alpha, the few Elders who lived close by, the Lycan Alpha and their Beta. Maxim led the friends to a table that wasn't right up to the stage, but wasn't too far back either. Alpha Christophe, her father, had asked Ginny to join the rest of the family up on stage, but Ginny had politely declined. she would rather sit with her friends for the ceremony and not be the center of attention. Maxim pulled out Ginny's chair for her as Rory did the same for Brittany. "Sheesh, what does a girl gotta do around here to get her chair pulled out?" Rachel joked. Both boys pulled the chair out for her as the friends all laughed. Ginny looked up at the stage. She knew most of the elders and Alphas who were in attendance; all except the Lycan Alpha. Most everyone had already taken their seats as there was only a half hour left until the ceremony, but the Lycan chair was still empty. "Who is the Lycan Alpha, again?" Ginny asked as she turned to Rachel. Rachel looked at her, perplexed. "Ginny, you really don't know?" She asked. "No. I've met all of the other Alphas here and there, but the Lycan Alpha has never had cause to come here before." Ginny responded, feeling lame. "It caused quite a ruckus when she took over." Rory said. "She??" Ginny asked, her interest piqued. "Yeah. She." Rory answered. "I thought Alphas had to be men." Maxim stated. At least she wasn't the only one who didn't know about it, Ginny thought. "Yeah, well usually it is only male wolfs who can be Alpha, but this was a special case. The previous Alpha died suddenly with only the one daughter. The Elder council went to pick a new alpha and...well" Rory shrugged. "Leela said she was the new Alpha! And she challenged anyone who wanted to take her place to fight her!" Rachel exclaimed, dramatically. She giggled thinking about it. "Did anyone challenge her?" Ginny asked. Leela sounded amazing. A female Alpha of the Lycan pack of all packs. It was the largest and most powerful pack by far. Even though the elders held the major power on the surface, everyone knew that the Moonlight Bloom Pack were the ones who really ran the show. Anything they didn't like didn't fly. "Why do you care?" Maxim asked, suddenly. "I didn't know you were so interested in women." Ginny scowled at Maxim. Did she sense some jealousy? What a foolish thing to worry about. In a week he wouldn't have to worry ever again. Once they were mated and marked they could live out the rest of their lives in the pack and help her brother until he had a pup of his own to take over. Ginny was looking at Maxim, lost in her daydream, when it hit her. At first she hardly noticed it. There was a tickling in her nose and Bri was acting restless out of nowhere. Suddenly the smell of hibiscus tea hit her nose full force and she was powerless to it. She stood up and looked for the source of the smell while Bri whined in the back of her mind. She saw movement and followed it instinctively. Walking up the stage steps was the single most breathtaking werewolf Ginny had ever seen. Wearing a dark Italian suit with a burgundy cravat, flaming red hair pulled back into a low ponytail, was the most beautiful and breathtaking woman ever created. She was tall and Ginny could tell at a glance that she was built with lean muscle, but she was also soft in all the right places. Her dress shirt was buttoned low, and her breasts bounced a little as she walked to her seat. Leela looked over at Ginny's table, suddenly perplexed, and then her full red lips parted in a charming smile. Ginny felt rooted to the spot by that look. Bri was screaming to get out and run. Ginny knew, but she didn't understand what was happening, or how. Bri, what the hell is going on right now?? Is that...?? Ginny asked desperately, although she was sure she knew the answer. Bri howled with delight and said the one word Ginny couldn't say herself: Mate!!
