Chapter 2

3570 Words
William POV I had one of the strangest nights of my existence. I saw her. If it weren't for Gary, I could have even touched her. I was so taken aback by her presence that I just couldn't bring myself to get away from my friend's grip. I must tell you, Gary could sometimes be a real ass. If he found no hotties available for him at the party, he just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. I need to see if she was real. Who is the fantastic being that keeps tormenting and sweetening all my dreams? Damn you, Gary, I could have had everything I wanted last night. I quickly grabbed a pair of jeans and a red shirt and went for my car keys. But, thinking of the devil only brought him to my home. "Hey, Will! What's up? Where are you in such a hurry?" Gary eyed my intensely. " It is none of your business. It doesn't involve work." "Since when do you have a personal life? Come on, you've made me curious. Tell me, is there someone ringing your bells?" His lips cought a sneaky smile. "No one is ringing my bells. I was just curious on who is the blond girl with blue dress from last night. She looked at me so intense, I can't help wondering if she actually knows me." What I really wanted to know is whether she is into me, or not. And, if she is a witch trying to torment my nights. Maybe she is the enemy, maybe she has been hired to destroy me. I wanted to bad to know everything there is to know about her. "Slow down, old friend. Are you talking about Charles Davy's daughter? Is she beautiful, blond with blue eyes and smokin' body?" Well, that sums it up. "Yep. That's the one. Do you know her?" "Not really. She is Davy's daughter, so she is off limits. If it were other circumstances, I would have totally banged her. She is frickin' hot." His mind seemed to wonder for a second, he was definitely imagining the girl naked. If I were a bull, fire would have come out of my nostrils. My blood was boiling and my hands were trembling. I didn't like Gary thinking about her like that. What feeling is this? I have never really felt jelousy, but I guess this must be it. "I am going to see her." "No, no, no, no, no. Are you out of your mind? Charles forbade her and her twin sister to talk to us, and you want to go there? We are never to go to their house unless we are solicited. Remember the task that was given to us, it involves a lot of action, we never seem to get such fun tasks lately. We just got this big job and you want to blew it over some girl?" She wasn't some girl to me, but I understood his point of view. "All right then, I won't go." My heart actually broke as soon as I said those words. It hurt me that I wasn't going to see her. But Gary was right, I couldn't blow this off. "Now tell me, why are you here so early in the morning." " I have a lead. We need to go see the old witch Lana. She is known to have travelled a lot during her lifetime, so she may know something about the prophecy Charles told us about." "I'm still buffled by what he told us. He seemed really upset about this whole thing." I remembered his worried face when he revealed to us the prophecy surrounding his daughter. Wait a minute. The prophecy is about the girl from my dreams? "Gary, we need to get to the bottom of this." For some reason, it really affected me that the girl was in danger. "We will", Gary vowed. "You've seen how documented Davy was, there is no way that the prophecy doesn't exist. There were so many books about it." Gary's mind seemd to wonder, he was definitely taken aback by what we learned last night, just like I was. "Just imagine having your youngest twin witch daughter doomed. Her destiny is to marry the cruelest vampire known to humankind, turn, become the first vampire with powers of a witch and rule the world. Chaos will come upon us. I'm sure the sweet girl doesn't even know about this". "Bella. Bella is her name." My heart stood still for a second. The name really suited her. She was very beautiful." I was thinking. lt's strange that we've never heard about this before. You would think that such a powerful prophecy would be on everybody's lips. I don't know, hear stories, rumours, something, anything." "You are right. In my two hundred years, I never came across such a story, and I've heard them all. If indeed we are to get to the bottom of it, you are right. Lana may have a lead on this. I have known her for a long time, she doesn't share information easily, she has a price for everything." "We may need to play this smart. Get her to believe she is in danger. Or really put her in danger. What if I bit her?" Gary actually smiled at the idea. He knew I didn't like him biting people. I had spent a great deal of time convincing him it was wrong to bite. Whener he was in wolf form, he would go on a biting spree. I was about to lose my temper and bite him, just to give him a taste of his own medicine when he finally gave up that nasty habbit. "Gary, what the f**k!" His smile faded and his expression turned appologetic. "I agree with the idea of convincing her she is in danger, but tricking her, not actually putting her life at stake. We could try to figure out a way to convince her that the prophecy will affect witches. Make her believe her bloodline will be extinct." Bella POV I tossed and turned all night. All I could think about was the handsome man I almost touched last night. If only his friend didn't force him to leave so fast. While I could't sleep, my sister dreamed all night about Jarred, the boy she met at the party. She actually had wet dreams. I could hear her moaning even though she didn't speak. We really needed to find a way to block each other's thoughts. If we were to find boyfriends, hearing each other having s*x or reading our minds while thinking about s*x will be really embarassing. "Morning sis! It's a lovely day, isn't it?" Iris had such a huge smile on her face, it made me feel uncomfortable. I knew whom she was thinking about. Jarred, of course. "Sure, whatever. I see, well, I know you had a great night. Jarred seems like a nice person, at least, through your eyes." "He's amazing actually! It's so easy to talk to him. He's sweet, kind and really, really hot!" She started giggling and dancing. "I couldn't read much of your mind last night. I was in a bubble, it's like I just couldn't hear your thoughts. Or maybe I just didn't concentrate enough." That sounded odd to me since I never had to concentrate on hearing what she thinks. I always thought that we shared the same mind frequency and that's why we just couldn't keep secrets from each other. "So, how was your night? The boy you were talking to seemed familiar. He was also hot." I started laughing. "Yes, he was fine. And yes, you do know him. Ian. We used to play together when we were little. His mother was friends with aunt Maya, they used to visit all the time." "Oh, I remember! We used to have so much fun playing with him. I think he was into you back then. He did everything he was told by aunt Maya, just to make you eat and behave." Iris smiled. We were trully blessed having auntie Maya bringing kids over to play with us. Dad was always busy. Oh, my good! I just remembered how dishevelled dad looked last night. "Hey, Iris! Have you talked to dad lately? Last night he seemed off. I saw him for one second and he looked preoccupied." " Now that you've mentioned it, I realise you are right. For the last few days, father was out of sight. I guess I was so excited about the party that I haven't realised that I haven't talked much to him lately." "I'll go see him." "I need to call Jarred and I'll catch up with you guys." Leave it to Iris to put her crush before anyone. "Hey, I heard that." I started laughing. "I was hoping you would." I said abd then took her arms. "Sister, you deserve to be happy. Go call Jarred." I started walking towards dad's office, I knew I would find him there. He spent ninety per cent of his time in that room. I swear, if he had a bed in there, he would never leave that office. It was such a pitty, we trully had a nice house. I passed the immense living room, a spatious room, filled with light and flowers. It was welcomming and before my mother's passing, I understood that our parents would receive their guests here. Since she was gone, dad only took guests to his office, which was located in a far corner, at the end of a dark hallway. It seemed that dad didn't even enjoy sunlight. I stroked his door lightly, afraid I would startle him. I always did that, father would fall asleep in there sometimes, and the knock on the door would startle him. "Yes, come in Bella!" He always knew it was me. Not just because of rhe knock, but because we had a special bond. "Hi, dad!" I said as I entered his office. Everything looked messy, there were books everywhere, old scripts scattered on his desk and my father looked exhausted. He would barely keep his eyes open, his white long hair was all over his face and he seemed to have forgotten to shower, shave and change clothes for quite some days. Guilt flooded me. What was wrong with father and why didn't we pay more attention to him lately? "Are you ok?" I asked. "You look...." I was at a loss of words. "Yes, of course I am fine, princess." Dad always called me princes and Iris his little fairy. I just had a lot of wirk to do. You know me. Whenever I hear about some fight in the supernatural world, I feel the need to intervene." Of course I knew that, he and mom were legends, they were like the peace corps of the supernatural world. I heard his words, but I wasn't sure they were the truth. Maybe I should comfort him, find out what's really on his mind. "Enough about my nonsense. Why don't you just tell me how was the party? I heard good music last night, and I handled the guest list myself." He tried to smile but he was too tired. "The party was fine dad but..." "No butts, sweetheart. The important thing was for you girls to have a good time. Tell me, ia there anyone you are interested in? I already heard your sister talking to Maya about a boy named Jarred." I was going to ask him about the guy from tge garden but he seemed to exhaused to bring that up. "Actually, there is someone I am interested in. But we can talk about that some other time. For now, why don't you just go to your room, shower and rest? We have plenty of time to discuss." "Excellent news! I am looking forward to hearing about that guy". Dad said as he gathered some books and headed for the door. This was serious if he took his work to his room now. I left his office and went to find Iris, but guess what? She was still on the phone with Jarred. I decided to go to my room, when I bumped into auntie Maya. "Hey, beauty! How was last night?" She was giggling. "I saw you talking to Ian. I am so glad you guys reconnected, you two used to be such good friends! I trully hope this develops into something beautiful!" I felt trully ashamed knowing I'd ditched Ian in the garden last night but I couldn't tell my aunt that. "Yes, we talked for a while, reminisced. It was nothing romantic, aunt Maya. We could only be friends." Whom I really, really want is the boy of my dreams, mister handsome William from the garden. "Bummer! I really hoped you two would hit it off." "Don't stress about it. Who knows? Maybe we will." I lied, but I wanted to see a smile on her face. In my room, I just scaterred on the bed, closing my eyes and picturing my mistery man. My heart immediately started to beat harder and harder as though William was standing right in front of me. It would be so nice having him touch me, feel his lips carres my lips, my neck, my breasts. Oh, God! I might have fallen in love with a man I haven't even talked to once. I imagined putting my arms around his neck and softly biting his earlobe while he moaned with pleasure. "Bella, stop sexdreaming!" Iris was laughing in my doorway! I blushed. "Now you show up!" "Sorry, I got distracted! It's so easy talking to Jarred! I can't wait to kiss him! We have a date tonight!" She seemed genuinly happy, so I was happy for her too. I didn't tell her about my worries regarding dad, I didn't want to ruin her day. William POV Old witch Lana was living in a creepy little house in the forest, here, in New Land. I knew her for quite some time now, she was willing to cooperate with whomever offered her a good price. It never mattered if her work served the good or the bad. She never asked questions as long as she got paid. That's why I had worked with her in the past, in my darker days. We were both unscrupulous. "It kind of gives me the creeps going to see Lana!" Gary confessed. I have known him for some years now, and he was never scared of anything. I laughed. "So, you don't flinch in the face of terrible creatures, in the face of death, but an old, little lady sends cold chills down your spine?" "Man, she is known for being a spinster all her life, never laying with any man, do you realise how frustrated she is? What if she sets her eyes on me?" Gary looked really worried about this. I laughed harder. "You wouldn't mind a curse coming from a witch, but you are frightened by the idea of having an old, defenseless lady trying to get into your pants?" "Yeah, man! Wouldn't you be?" I was histerical at this point. My cheeks were hurting from how hard I laughed. "Look at the bright side, Gary. You could be getting some today!" Before we knew it, we were at the witch's gate. My smile just dissapeared and my face turned serious. The gate was wide open so we let ourselves in. I was surprised to see flowers in her garden and bloomed trees. Even the grass was nicely cut and green. Huh, maybe the old hag had a change of heart. Her house still looked creepy though. There were small doll heads lighting her porch, strange weeds hanging from her door and a weird smell coming from some burnt herbs. The house was very old, much older than the witch himself. The windows had wooden frames, moldy wooden frames actually and the door was barely standing still. "Maybe you should go in by yourself, since you are old acquaintances." Gary surely looked uncomfortable. I've never seen him sweat before, but now he looked as if he had taken a shower. "We both go in. We need to play this smart, remember. Together. Besides, there ia nothing to worry about." I was too old and experienced to be scared by an old woman. "Ok, but you knock." I nodded. I knocked confidently at the door and it looked as if it might just fall from its hinges. After two long seconds of silence I heard a screechy voice. "I'm coming!" Her footsteps were almost silent but her actions weren't. An amalgam of sounds of glasses breaking and other objects shattering pierced through my ears. I guess we interrupted her. She opened the door and just stood there. She was wearing what looked like a dirty work dress, full of mud, she had garden utensils in one hand, her hair was caught in a bun and her face looked trully unwelcoming. Lana was definitely eyeing Gary, studying him from the waist down. I guess Gary was right after all. Then, she lifted her eyes and looked at his face, definitely being pleased with the sight in front of her. When she finally caught my gaze, her expression changed again. "Well, well... That's quite a surprise. To what do I owe the honor of your presence, mister Williams? I taught we were not doing business together anymore." She has a wicked grin on her face, the creepy kind. "It's nice to see you again too, Lana!" Gary didn't say anything. He was kind of hiding behind my back. I guess he saw the witch eyeing his thing, too. "My friend and I came here to warn you. It's for your own benefit." "Oh, really?" Her expression turned serious, kind of worried. "Tell me, what is the matter and what can we do?" Maybe this will be easier than I originally thought. "Well, there is this prophecy threatening us all. I don't know if you heard about it but it is actually said to have its roots into your family. One of your kind made this prophecy." "That sounds interesting. And how could that affect me? If there was anything that could threaten my very existence, I am positively sure that my ancestors would have let me know. After all, I still live in the territory, my powers still comes from this land, which is filled with all the powerful energy from my ancestors." "Well, the prophecy says that a half vampire, half witch will rise and rule all supernatural creatures. There is a high possibility for your bloodline to be extinct. Just think about it. There will be someone so powerfull that could actually decide whether someone is worthy to have powers or not. And since the ruler will be that powerful, guess where will he or she draw its power from? My guess is the territory. You said it yourself that New Land is filled with energy." "Will is right, you know? I'm a werewolf, that bastard will not be able to get my powers, but I am still scared as fuck." Gary completed. "We need to find this mother fucker and prevent him or her to get that kund of power. It's for your own good." Lana's face turned serious for a moment, than she burst into laughing. She actually had tears in her eyes from laughing so hard. "That's a nice bullshit story you two put together. Listen, I was going to pretend I didn't hear about such prophecy, but the truth is I am aware of it. I just don't care. Look at me. I am old as f**k, I started gardening because no one sought my witch services anymore. If I have or don't have my powers anymore, I don't really care." "So you heard about the prophecy?" Gary asked before I could do so myself. "Tell us what you know." "Listen, handsome." Gary actually blushed at Lana's words. "If I knew anything other than what you already heard, I would have told you. For the right price, of course." She winked at Gary. "But I don't know anything because I haven't asked or looked around. My guess you already went to Davy's house and read the ancient book he has in his office." Well he actually had several of those. Which one was it? "You mean the one with no covers? We looked through that." Gary eyed me as if asking when did I have time to read books in Davy's office. "Charles tore its covers? I guess he doesn't want anyone to know that my uncle wrote that. John Peters was a good storyteller, he wanted to write the book to leave some hints regarding the whereabouts of the original piece of paper containing the prophecy. You know, that paper also reveals the name of the vampire, along with the lucky witch bride. It must have been quite a prophech, revealing names like that. So accurate, so powerful." The witch succumbed to her thoughts, so I told Gary we needed to get on our way. We needed to get back to Charles's house and search for that book. My beart ached at the thought of seeing Bella again.
