LUCIAN POV
I was in the hospital pacing back and front, hoping the woman I hit with my car made it alive. Why didn't I pay more attention? I said to myself.
I can't afford any scandals as I do have a lot on my plate now, I have the company on my neck already, finding a wife in three weeks, and now a dying woman on my neck.
Still pacing and regretting my actions of taking the turns too fast, the doctor came out.
“Doctor,” I said out of anticipation and curiosity.
“Calm down Mr Ambani. The impact wasn't that bad. She had a few broken ribs but in days they will heal nicely,” he said in assurance.
Breathing out loudly as I thanked the doctor for a job well done. As I have no dying woman on my neck anymore. The doctor said I could go in to see the woman.
Looking at the pale figure lying on the bed the sounds of machines echo through the air. The woman looked pale, and as if she had been crying for hours.
But why was she in the middle of the road? Yes, I was speeding but assuming she was not walking in the middle of the road at least I should have prevented all this, it was still her fault that she was in this condition. I thought to myself refusing to take all the blame, especially at the moment.
I don't need a woman exploiting me for an accident that was partly her fault, I don't need the press on my ass right now. I have a lot on my plate.
The strange woman stirs, her eyelids flashing open as she begins to take in her environment. Turning her gaze to the IV attached to her left arm bandages wrapped all over her body. Her gaze fell on me who was Standing there and observing. She hissed in pain and her gaze fell back on the bandage around her ribs.
“Good you are wake,” I said rudely
“It took you long enough,” I said.
Her gaze fell back on me as she remembered the accident. I took out my wallet and threw some dollar bills, which landed on her hips.
“I have paid for your hospital bills and all expenses that was needed to be covered,” I said without looking at her.
“Take that money and transport yourself home. It will also be enough to buy yourself some groceries” I said, getting annoyed at her quietness.
“I don't need you coming back and threatening me with the press or suing me for anything,” I said with a raised voice.
Crying. She just started crying. What am I supposed to do?
“Isn't the money enough?” I asked to draw some more dollar notes.
“I have nowhere else to go, he left me, he chose his ex-girlfriend over me, he told me to my face that I was useless, he left for his girlfriend Echo, I have no one to turn to, no place to rest my head, no family to cry to, nobody.” She said sobbing badly.
“ Look woman, what are you saying? Look I don't give a f**k about your problems because I have mine too okay?” I said as my anger began to rise.
“Take the money and just disappear. Whatever you are saying, it's your problem, not mine.” I said hissing out rudely.
“I'm sorry that I have nowhere to go. My husband divorced me and me and my baby are helpless.” The woman said as her hand connected to her tummy and she gave off a weak smile.
“Well I don't care, I can't..”I said, cutting myself short as an Idea hit me.
“What's your name?”I asked, taking out my phone.
“Elena Mondragon” she replied as I left the room.
…. Ringing….
“Yes boss,” Vance, my right-hand man, answered.
“I need you, to get whatever you can, on the name Elena Mondragon,” I said firmly.
★★★★★★★★★
I walked into the room remembering all that Vance told me the woman was truly robbed of her wealth by her husband.
The bastard took all her properties and livelihood leaving her with nothing and going back to his ex-girlfriend Echo Amni
Who is also a gold-sucking b***h herself.
But how could a woman be so vulnerable?
I entered the room with documents in my hand and I looked at her as she was too distracted to notice me.
I cleared my throat to draw her attention to me.
“I have a contract deal for you,” I said firmly.
“What-t that?” she asked with a trembling
voice.
“Seeing your current condition, I have drafted a contract deal that will benefit both of us,” I said as my gaze fell on hers as she paid attention to me.
“The contract will last for only a year then you are free to pathways. So you will be my wife for a year. I will take care of you and your unborn child and of course, claim your baby as mine. Right now you are in need of support, care, and shelter and I can provide all of that but I need you to be my wife in the eyes of the public as I am in desperate need of a wife at this moment and you are also in need too so that makes us in agreeable terms which will favor us both. So all you need is to sign this document and you will become mine.” I said as I explained in detail.
She sat up on the bed as pain laced her expression as she looked at me.
“Mr” Elena said as I cut her short and said
“Call me Lucian,” I said firmly
“Lucian, I appreciate your generosity and kindness so far. But I belong to no one.”Elena said calmly.
“If you must know, I have been played, hurt, neglected, and dumped. One thing I have learned is that all men are the same.
Lying, cheating, scumbags you all are the same manipulating bastards.”Elena said tears began to build in her eyes as she wiped them off.
“I refuse to be used by another man and be dumped again,” Elena said as tears began to fall from her eyes down her cheeks.
“So pardon me Lucian when I say NO” Elena said firmly.
