Chapter Two
A few hours had passed, the club was getting packed and the amount of heat from all the bodies was growing too. The dance floor was so packed, hardly any one could move. When it got to this point, then it seemed time to leave, but none of the others wanted to.
As predicted, one by one the girls called their boyfriends and they arrived and they went off and did their own thing.
‘Who’s getting the next round?’ One of my friends, Kimmy asked. I told them I’d get the next round in and we both headed to the bar. I wouldn’t be able to carry every thing back myself.
I shouted my order to the bar tender and turned to talk to Kim, but in the few seconds we were stood there, she was already getting chatted up by a cute guy. Of course.
I looked back over at my friends and smiled sadly. They were all deep in conversations with their other halves. I was starting to feel a little down and lonely. SHaking the thought off, it was my birthday, I was going to have fun.
I reached over to grab a bunch of straws when some one pushed me from behind and I knocked over some ones fresh drink.
‘Oh my god, I’m so sorry!’. I shouted over the music, The guy turned around and I instantly wanted the floor to open up and swallow me when I saw it was the sexy guy I had seen before.
‘It's ok, accidents happen’. He smiled the biggest smile. I smiled back.
‘Can I buy you another one?’
‘It's ok, You don’t have too’.
‘I insist’. He nodded and said thank you and as the bar tender put my cocktails in front of me, I ordered his new drink.
‘I’m Nathan’. Holding out his hand, I shook it.
‘Hey, I’m Xenia’
‘As in... Warrior princess?’ I laughed, that’s what every one says when I tell them my name, but hearing him say it made me blush for some reason.
‘Yeah, Pretty much’.
‘That is an awesome name!’. He turned to his friend to tell him and he agreed, my name was cool. I thanked them both. ‘So, who are you here with?’ I pointed over to where my friends were sad.
‘I’m the odd one out this evening, Not the funniest of birthdays’. I joked.
‘It's your birthday?’ I nodded. ‘Well in that case’. When the bar tender came back over, Nathan leaned over and said some thing and the guy walked away.
‘Wait...I haven’t paid for my drinks’.
‘Don’t worry, it's on their tab’. He pointed to Nathan before turning his attention to some one else, serving them.
‘Thank you, but you didn’t have to do that!’.
‘Don’t worry about it, Happy Birthday’. He gave me another smile before he had to go back to his table with his friends. I felt a little giddy and couldn’t stop smiling the whole way back to the table.
‘What’s made you smile?’ My other friend Kandi asked. I just shook my head and looked over my shoulder, trying to see Nathan but couldn’t. Shrugging it off, I turned my attention back to my friends and joined in their conversation.

As the night went on, couple after couple started leaving the club until it was just me, Kandi, her boyfriend Duke, Kimmy and the cute guy she picked up at the bar, but I was really starting to feel like the fifth wheel and finished my drink quickily and said my goodbyes.
As I started heading out the club, I bumped in to Mr handsome again.
‘Well, hello again. Leaving so soon?’ I nodded. ‘Awww why?’
'Well, I officially became the odd one out so thought it was time to head off’.
‘You know before you go, you never did buy my drink.. Technically…’ He smirked playfully. What was he getting at?’
‘Right..’
‘Come and have a drink with me before you go’. I instantly felt myself blush.
‘I dont know..’ I felt so incredibly shy and couldn’t look at him. I heard him chuckle.
‘Come on, just one’. Letting out a long sigh, I nodded. Why the hell not. It's one drink.
‘Ok, Ok, That sounds good’. Smiling at each other, we headed back towards the bar, my friends were nowhere to be seen, which is fine, might be a bit awkward otherwise.
We had our drink... And then another.. And another and eventually, Nathan invited me to his table with his friends, I was hesitant at first, but thoughts ‘’Screw it’’ and accepted his offer as we walked through the crowds towards the red roped off section of the club...
