Meeting Luca
Ashwood was one of those towns that seemed like time was frozen.Positioned in the middle of the Woods, the people there lived simple lives, completely unaware of the secrets lurking in the shadows. I'd always felt like an outsider here, like someone who watched from the sidelines.
My name is Silvia, and I'd moved to Ashwood with my family when I was fifteen. Dad got a job at the local hospital, and Mom started teaching at the high school. I was the new kid, struggling to fit in.
Three years passed, and I'd finally found my place. I had friends, a part-time job at the bookstore, and i loved to write.
But tonight was different. Tonight, I was lost.
I'd gone for a walk after dinner, needing some fresh air and solitude. The woods were peaceful, the moon casting a silver glow over the trees. I walked for hours, lost in thought, until I realized I was lost.
Panic crept in as the darkness seemed to close in around me. I quickened my pace, but the trees looked unfamiliar. Where was I?
That was when I saw him.
Tall, brooding, and handsome, with ice blue eyes that seemed to see right through me. His long black hair fell across his forehead, framing a face that belonged on a magazine cover.
"Hello," I said, trying to sound calm.
"Lost?" he asked, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine.
I nodded, feeling like an i***t.
"Let me help you find your way," he offered, his smile saying the unknown.
As we walked together, the silence between us felt comfortable. He didn't ask questions or try to small-talk; he just walked beside me, his presence reassuring.
We reached the edge of the woods, and the town lights beamed before us.
"Thanks," I said, turning to him.
"My pleasure," he replied, his eyes locking onto mine.
For a moment, time stood still.
"Luca," he said, as if reading my thoughts.
"Silvia ," I replied, my heart beating fast.
Luca's gaze lingered on mine before he turned and vanished into the night.
I stood there, stunned.
Who was Luca?
And why did I feel like my life had just changed forever?
The days passed, and I couldn't shake off the feeling that Luca had left on me. We'd shared a moment, a connection that went beyond words.
At work, I found myself lost in thought, staring out the window, hoping to catch a glimpse of him.
My friends noticed the change in me.
"Silvia, what's going on?" Emily asked during lunch.
"Nothing," I replied, trying to brush it off.
But Emily saw right through me.
"You met someone, didn't you?" she asked, her eyes sparkling.
I blushed.
"Maybe," I admitted.
Emily squealed.
"Tell me everything!"
I hesitated, unsure if I should share.
But something about Emily's enthusiasm made me open up.
"I was lost in the woods," I began.
"And then?" Emily prompted.
"I met this guy," I said.
"Luca," Emily repeated.
I nodded.
"How was he?," Emily asked.
I closed my eyes.
"Tall, dark hair, beautiful blue eyes," I said.
Emily's eyes widened.
"Sounds like a vampire," she joked.
I rolled my eyes.
"Don't be ridiculous," I said.
But the joke stuck.
Was Luca more than human?
I tried to focus on my writing, but my mind kept drifting to Luca.
What was his story?
Why did he disappear?
I needed answers.
I started asking around town, but no one knew anything.
It was like Luca was a ghost.
Frustrated, I went back to the woods, hoping to find him.
But he was nowhere to be found.
As I walked back home, I realized something:
I wasn't just searching for Luca.
I was searching for myself.
Who was I, really?
What did I want?
The questions swirled in my head.
And then, I saw him.
Luca stood across the street, watching me.
Our eyes met.
My heart skipped a beat.
"Luca," I whispered.
He smiled.
And everything changed.
But the joke lingered in my mind.
Was Luca more than human?
And why did I care?
Luca's smile lit up the night, and I felt my heart race.
"Silvia," he said, his voice low and smooth.
I crossed the street, my feet moving on its own.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
Luca shrugged.
"I could ask you the same," he replied.
I hesitated.
"I was looking for you," I admitted.
Luca's eyes sparkled.
"Why?" he asked.
I took a deep breath.
"I want to know more about you," I said.
Luca's expression turned serious.
"What do you want to know?" he asked.
Everything, I thought.
But I settled for: "What do you do?"
Luca smiled.
"I take care of things," he said.
Vague, but my curiosity increased.
"What kind of things?" I pressed.
Luca leaned in.
"Secrets," he whispered.
My heart skipped a beat.
"Whose secrets?" I asked.
Luca's eyes locked onto mine.
"Mine," he replied.
I frowned.
"You're mysterious, Luca," I said.
Luca chuckled.
"That's an understatement," he said.
I raised an eyebrow.
"Want to explain?" I asked.
Luca's expression turned serious.
"Not yet," he said.
I nodded.
"Okay," I said.
Luca's gaze lingered on mine.
"But soon," he promised.
I smiled.
"I'll hold you to that," I said.
Luca grinned.
"I'm counting on it," he replied.
And with that, Luca vanished into the night.
Leaving me with more questions.
Days passed, and I couldn't shake off Luca's enigmatic words.
"Secrets," he'd whispered.
What did he mean?
My curiosity grew, and I found myself scouring the town for clues.
I asked around, but no one seemed to know anything.
Frustrated, I turned to my writing, pouring my thoughts onto paper.
But even fiction couldn't distract me from Luca.
I needed answers.
One evening, I decided to take a different approach.
I snuck into the town's old library, searching for hidden records.
Dusty shelves and flickering lights greeted me.
As I browsed through ancient tomes, a title caught my eye:
"The Ashwood Legacy."
Intrigued, I opened the book.
Yellowed pages revealed a dark history.
Ashwood's founders had made a deal, trading power for protection.
From what, I wondered?
The words blurred together, but one phrase stood out:
"The Guardians of Ashwood."
Luca's face flashed in my mind.
Was he a Guardian?
I devoured the rest of the book, but the answers remained elusive.
The library closed, and I left with more questions.
The night air swirled with secrets.
And I felt like I was getting closer.
As I walked home, I noticed shadows moving.
Was Luca watching me?
I quickened my pace.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the darkness.
Luca.
"You're digging deep, Silvia," he said.
My heart skipped a beat.
"What do you know?" I asked.
Luca's smile hid secrets not known.
"Enough," he replied.
"Tell me," I pressed.
Luca's eyes locked onto mine.
"Meet me at the old oak tomorrow night," he said.
"And?" I asked.
Luca vanished into the darkness.
Leaving me with anticipation.
And a promise.
Tomorrow night, I'd uncover the truth.
The next evening, I stood before the ancient oak.
Luca appeared beside me.
"Ready?" he asked.
I nodded.
Together, we walked into the unknown.
And I knew my life would never be the same.
