“AVERY!” Avery groaned, opening her eyes. She’d been having such a good rest. Then she registered the slight chill against her ankle and the dark light streaming through the window, and she bolted upright. “Oh no.” She breathed. “Avery!” The call came again, and she gently stepped out of bed. Her ankle was feeling a bit better. She grabbed the now warmer ice pack and went out of the room, dread squeezing her heart. She made her way to the kitchen, where her aunt and cousins were standing with murderous looks. “You worthless thing, you weren’t here to serve us dinner!” Her aunt Stacy exclaimed. Avery blinked.
