THE next morning, Avery was dreading school. There was the whole spitting fiasco, and then that horrible video which made her seem like a servant—well, that wasn’t hard, because she was a servant. Or at least, that was what the family she was living with seemed to think. So it wasn’t with a very excited air she got ready for school and did her chores. In fact, dread festered through her the whole morning. Her cousins and aunt were their usual obnoxious selves—her cousins giving her knowing smirks, which she did her best to ignore.
