Roman held her so tight, she began to feel choked but that did not take half of her worries away. She kept shaking him as if her efforts would bring him to wake up but it didn't. "Help!" She yelled, thinking she sounded dramatic. But then, what if he wasn't actually sleeping and was having trouble waking up because of an underlying health condition? The thought of it made her even more determined and she called in a louder voice, "help, somebody!" Suddenly, he snapped his eyes open and sprang up. He turned to look at Lily still breathing heavily. "Are you okay?" She expressed her concerns. Her face was twitched into fear and her breathing pattern was odd. "Should I get you some water or something to drink?" She wondered, attempting to get up and do just that but he held her hand to stop her movements and then he pulled her into a tight hug. "Please, don't go." He muttered under his breath. Lily nodded again at his shoulder and pressed his face against her chest to tighten their hug. She had no idea what was up with him but she was willing to stick by him. * Kim was getting used to the bedroom being hers alone and so when Adrian walked in unannounced, she flinched out of startlement. He looked just as surprised standing by the door. It was almost as if he had forgotten he was a married man now. "Well hello." Kim looked away from her phone and put it beside her. He acknowledged her presence with a nod. "I was wondering, how does it feel to own an app with millions of users? Can you program my account to have more followers?" She said, standing to her feet and putting her hands behind her back. She had just finished her night time skin care routine and was in a bath robe. Adrian only gave a slight chuckle. Maybe he thought she was stupid but he didn't say it aloud. Kim was eager to keep the conversation going. "So, are you back because of tomorrow's camping trip or?" "It's tomorrow?" He spoke for the first time, sitting on one of the couches, his briefcase beside him. Kim nodded, folded her hands across her chest. "You are so well to do, are you telling me you can't move to one of your own houses and get all the privacy you need? Or that no woman in this world wanted to marry your brother? Why did you guys do things that way?" "Are you in contact with some reporters or what?" He asked and she widened her eyes amd shook her head, sitting beside him. "No, it's nothing like that. Look, I know we know nothing about each other but we could try." She feigned interest in him. He was attractive but Roman had always been her interest, right from her teens and she couldn't picture herself liking this man. James had been a distraction, a good one and maybe she did develop feelings for him along the way but it was clear that she wanted more than James. "I'm tired, and we do have a big day ahead tomorrow so if you don't mind, I'd like to go now please." He offered her a small smile and made his way to the bed. Kim rolled her eyes but she didn't utter a word. * The next morning, the whole house was in a mess. The housekeepers were littered in the rooms to assist with the packing. Lily wondered why they needed so much for a so called family camping trip. Emily's camera crew scattered around, trying to film every moment for her show and Fred wasn't pleased with that. Neither Lily nor Roman had brought last night's incident up and although her curiosity was at its peak, she didn't want to be insensitive. Five cars lined up and one fancy truck was behind to keep their luggage and supplies. The first car was Emily's ride. The second belonged to her camera crew. The third was taken by Adrian and Kim. Fred rode in the fourth while Lily and Roman took the last vehicle. Lily was in a simple floral gown that stopped just above her knees and Roman was in a pair of white shorts and grey T shirt. He looked so good and he just had to add sunglasses. Lily felt a sense of pride because he was hers. "Who still reads newspapers when you've got it all on your phone?" She wondered when the drivers of the vehicles took off. Roman looked up from the newspaper at her, and then looked back at it. Lily felt uncomfortable in her seat. She wanted to start a discussion with him so badly but she was lost on what she was supposed to say to him. After ten minutes of driving, Roman noticed how uncomfortable she seemed and so he closed the paper, cleared his throat and looked through the tinted windows. "It looks like it is about to rain." "The weather forecast said it would." She said, picking at the hem of her gown, wondering how he could tell from the dark windows. "That's interesting then." Neither of them knew how to keep the conversation going and clearly, Lily was the only one that seemed bothered by that fact. She decided it was best if she remained silent and on her phone instead. Things got even boring when they got stuck in traffic. "Great, finally agreeing to another of these dumb s**t and of course, it just makes sense that we get stuck in traffic, we are never getting there in time." Roman sounded bitter. He kept complaining about the traffic until Lily's ears began to bleed from hearing it too much. "Scoot over, I got this myself." Roman groaned, reaching into his wallet for a bundle of cash and giving it to the driver that had gotten annoyed with his bickering by now but of course, wouldn't dare to show it. The driver accepted the cash and swallowed, fearing being caught as he got out of his seat belt so he could hand the driver seat over to his boss. He battled against time, rushing before the lights went green again and he was stuck on his seat. "Out." Roman directed and both Lily and the driver widened their eyes. "Sir?" The confused driver raised one eyebrow. "Out." Roman repeated, making his way to the front seat from behind. "But sir, I can't get down, it's the middle of the road, I-" the driver began his argument but the look on Roman's face shut him up. Who was he to argue with his boss anyways? Besides, the Dalmains were too influential to be questioned, he thought. "What the hell are you doing? You can't run ahead of traffic." Lily gasped, leaning forward when he started the engine. "But we can cut the road and take a shortcut instead, meet the family ahead." He said, not taking his eyes off the road. The lights were green again and before they had the chance to slow him down, he took a sharp turning to the left, confusing the drivers behind him and cutting into a narrow street. "Roman!" Lily screamed, holding her chest, "Please turn this thing around Roman, we don't have time for this!" She could hear her heart beat in her throat. He didn't seem to be listening, he just went on speed, trying to attain a shorter distance through their journey. Things seemed fine and they were soon out of the streets and linked to a free road after an hour. The road was an isolated one so Roman did not expect an old woman to be crossing the road in front of them. "Shit." Roman cussed, swerving to avoid her but at that speed, their car tires screeched and he fell through the woods. Lily screamed, knowing that their lives were flashing before their eyes "we are going to die." She cried. * "Are you okay?" Roman asked her, helping her out of the car. He had hit the brakes and managed to slow the car down. Lily was amused, it was almost like he had done it before. "I am." She nodded. Roman looked at the hill they had run down through. "That's too slopey to climb back up." He pointed out. "Come on, I'll call someone." Lily was still coughing from the smoke that the car, well, at least used to be a car, was producing. The sides had scrunched in and the bonnet and windshields were cracked. "The rest of the family might be wondering where we are." Lily sighed, knowing that nobody else followed the route that they had taken. "Fuck." Roman groaned. "What?" Lily furrowed her eyebrows at him. "There's no connection here, come on, we will just have to make our way around it then." He said, returning his phone into his pocket and moving on. "Make our way around what? The cliff? Have you lost your mind? This thing is so tall, what makes you think it's in a circle? What if the end of it is just the end if it or who knows how far the end even is?" Lily was not hiding the anger in her voice this time. She knew something would go wrong eventually with his blinding impatience. Roman seemed a little astonished by the sudden change in attitude. "Why are you mad at me? Would you rather have me hit that woman? What the f**k was she doing on a highway in the first place?" "That's not my--- ah!" She screeched, leaping forward to hold on to him at the sound of a raging thunder. She held on for a few more minutes before pulling away shyly. "I'm sorry," she sighed, lowering her head to hide her blush. "We better find some shelter before it starts to pour. Judging by these clouds, it might come down really hard." He said. "Oh my God." Lily shook her head. "This can't be happening." She turned so she could attempt to climb the hill once more. Roman watched from a distance, his hands stuffed into his pocket. "You know it's impossible, right?" But that didn't stop Lily. Instead she went faster, falling back every trial. She only jerked away at the sound of another warning thunder. "But where on earth are we supposed to find shelter here? This isn't some movie where you just find a random cave in the middle of the woods. "Better to try than just stand here..." Roman stopped at the interruption of a drizzle. "Well, it's raining." "f**k it Roman, you really should have been patient." She sighed. "Come on." He held her hand and pulled her forward. Lily felt an electric spark run through her body. How could anyone's physical touch do that to her? It felt like peace. Where they were going, she had no idea but she was willing to go with him. They were only a few steps forward when the rain increased its tension and soaked them from head to toe. They were surrounded by nothing but trees and there was no way for them to find shelter. "s**t, why did I just think of this?" Roman clicked his tongue and shook his head. "What's that?" Lily said with a trembling voice, shaking like a wet puppy. "There's a f*****g tent in the back of the car." He sighed, hating himself for recollecting now. Lily didn't judge his forgetfulness, instead, she rushed towards the trunk and they tried to raise the damaged trunk to retrieve the tent. Roman doubted that the rain would let their tent remain set up but he found a spot under a tree and the rain was coming in lighter showers now. "I have no idea how they set these things up." He shook his head, "there's no Internet access here either, fuck." His wet hair was sticking to his face and he looked like he was straight out of a movie. Lily had gone with her students on a camping trip and so she had better knowledge. She began to set it up, wanting warmth as quick as possible while he watched in amusement. Her gown had clung to her body and was hugging her features so tight, she felt naked and uncomfortable bending down to set things up but she cared less. Roman, on the other hand was not feeling himself. Even though this was a bad time, he could feel his c**k harden just staring at her. Her cleavage showing through her wet clothes and her ass in his direction as she bent to pin the tent into the floor. He needed to clear his head. He barely knew this woman and he felt nothing for her, he repeatedly assured himself. "Come on." She snapped him out of his thoughts, beckoning that he came inside with her. Lily sat in a corner of the tent, hugging her knees to her chest. She was freezing. Roman made attempts to leave. "Where are you going?" She called sharply, not wanting to be left alone for even a second. "To see if I can start a fire to warm you up." He shrugged like it was nothing. "Do you even have any idea how that is supposed to be done?" She raised a suspecting eyebrow. "It's worth a try." He said. "The stones would be cold by now, it's useless, just please... don't leave me alone." Roman nodded and sat beside her. He wrapped one arm around her and tightened his hold. "What are you doing?" Lily's heart skipped. "Keeping you warm. I don't know how these cuddles s**t works but I'm trying." He sighed and she kept quiet. This was the best feeling in the world, to be held so close. "Lily?" He called a few moments later. "Hmm?" "I think I should tell you the reason we chose this pattern of marriage." He said. She couldn't tell if he was nervous or just cold but she knew something was up for sure. leaving comments encourages faster updates because it helps us know you are enjoying the story. @faivic_ on i********:
