Lily took a long bathe and when she went back to the bedroom, she was relieved to find that Roman wasn't there. She didn't think she could face him now after what had happened between them. What had she even been thinking in the first place? f*****g him? She changed into a pair of warm pyjamas and hit the bed, she would go to work as early as possible to avoid him the best she could. * Lily's dreams of going to work early were shattered when she woke up to Roman dressing up. His body was silhouetted so she knew it was still early morning hours. The lights were out except for a few night bulbs. He was doing the buttons on his shirt when she sat up with a stretch. "You are going to work with me." He said, not turning around to look at her. He must have sensed her movement and figured she was awake. "What?" Lily frowned, breaking her yawn off. "You are going to work with me." He repeated, tucking his blue shirt into his pants and securing his waist with a black leather belt with actual gold belt hooks. "I heard you the first time." Lily frowned and pulled the sheets away from her body, "what do you mean, though?" "Your face is over the media. Everyone knows who the Dalmain brothers got married to now." He informed her, flicking a switch that illuminated the room, blinding her, she had to shut her eyes tight on reflex. Roman walked to the dresser and watched his reflection for a minute before reaching for a basket of hair tools. Lily almost considered it a privilege to watch him shape his already perfect hair into its traditional style. "And so?" Lily swallowed. She knew what was up. She reached for her phone where she had left it the night before and saw blasts of missed calls, texts and voicemails. Her boss had been trying to reach her, his texts conveyed promises of security and a wild raise if she was going to keep her job now, of course she was, not with all the unnecessary attention that came with it though. "Wait, what is going on?" She stood to her feet whilst going through the famous entertainment websites. Truly, her face was on the Internet but some of these sites had photoshopped her to look too good. "Dad allowed the media in on the news, our goal has been achieved but on the other hand, it now means that your identities are more at stake. There is a very likely chance your school is filled with reporters that have nothing else to do with their lives but poke their noses into people's affairs." Roman returned the hair tools after use. "So, what does any of it have to do with me going to work with you?" She raised one eyebrow. "Dad is offering you a job at work." He said. "I'm not working with you, I am going to school." Lily frowned. Terms and conditions or not, she wasn't about to make such an important decision without planning for it beforehand. Roman stared at her blankly but he didn't argue. He only walked towards his briefcase and left the room with it. * Lily continued to dial her mom as she made her way to work. She had dressed up so neatly, she had to look the title, she thought. Getting downstairs, there was Fred, Roman, Kim and Emily on the breakfast table. She had no idea that Emily was still around. The men were dressed in their exotic suits with ties hanging around their neck. Lily muttered a quick good morning under her breath and hastened her steps. "And where do you think you're going?" Fred stopped her in her tracks. "Work." She turned around sharply, keeping the most serious expression. "And has Roman informed you about the new development?" "Yeah?" "So, where are you heading?" "To school." Lily dared to frown at him. "You guys are not making random decisions in my life and just expect me to follow them, I have to be at work and I will be heading down now." She said the words faster than her anxiety could dare to stop her. Her eyes briefly met her husband's and he looked astonished, yet pleased by her display of boldness. "Very well then." Fred strangely agreed. "One of the drivers will get you to school." "I don't even know why you guys are still out working, though." Emily cut in with her valley girl accent. "Our camping trip is literally tomorrow." "I'm so excited for it." Kim smiled at her and Emily returned the gesture. It was evident that both girls were getting along. Lily ignored them and took her cue. There had been no mentions of a honeymoon, not that she thought she needed one but even then, camping sounded strange and invasive if everyone would be going. This family was strange, no doubt. * Kim stood to her feet, excusing herself from the breakfast table, the amount of the agencies that had contacted her overnight was insane. Her followers on Weber had increased by hundreds of thousands and she knew that this was the best decision of her life. Her mind flashed back to when she had been caught with James and how she had lied to Fred that her brother and her never had a close relationship and hence the reason for not including him on the list. She had convinced the old man so much, he even promised to get them counselors to bond their relationship better. As for her relationship with James, she was still convincing him she would come back to him after her attained goals and even she did not doubt it because since her 'marriage', she had not set eyes on her husband. She'd had to go to bed on her wedding night pleasing herself with her own fingers but it was worth it because the entire time, she'd been imagining that it was Roman touching her. Roman, she would have him for herself eventually. She had to. He should have been hers, not Lily's. Every inch of him belonged to her, only her. She decided to call Mark for the first time and question him about the slip ups. * Lily's school was not as crowded as she had expected and she had asked the driver to park a few buildings away, not wanting to bring unnecessary attention to herself by driving by in a tesla. She went straight to her classroom, mentally deciding she would talk to the principal later. "Good morning Miss Johnson." Her class chorused with mischievous smiles on their faces and she knew that even they had ideas now. "It's Mrs Dalmain." Brittany Hollow emphasised and the class roared with screeches. "How could you not let us know?!" "I thought we were closer than this!" "How does it feel to be rich, my role model!" Most of the questions were from the girls and Lily had to bang the desk to call them to order. She took her seat and ignored every single question and resumed normal class activities like it was nothing. * Mid class, Lily was summoned to the teachers' lounge where the principal's office was. Some of her colleagues looked at her like she had done something wrong, the others wallowed in pure jealousy but she walked head high to her boss without giving them any attention. "Mrs Dalmain." Her boss called and pointed to the chair across from him. She took her seat and acknowledged his greeting with a nod. She had always been Miss Johnson and Mrs just didn't feel right. "First of all, congratulations on your marriage." He was sounding so extra nice, she resisted the urge to roll her eyes at him. "Thank you." She nodded in response. "While I love you working here, the school got a message from your father in law's organisation." He began and she could just feel her heart sink to her stomach. "And they requested that we let you go for many understandable reasons. Your security and your status makes it difficult to work here in our small school." He continued to say, ignoring her discomfort. "And so, we have decided to let you go." "But Mr. Bricks, I love working here and, I want to keep my job." She sounded like there was a lump in her throat. "I would love to have you here as well but these things are for the best." He sighed, feigning true concern. "How much did they pay you for this?" Lily frowned and folded her hands across her chest. "Answer me, how much?!" She was starting to raise her voice, not caring that she was drawing attention from the teachers. "What about me? What about my feelings? What about my students and the bond we share? This isn't fair!" She could feel the tears welling in her eyes but she blinked them away. She stood to her feet and exited his office. She was going to talk to her new family, not her stupid boss. Once again, she ignored her colleagues. While she was storming towards the driver, a strong hand grabbed her wrist and pulled her back. She gasped in startlement and met the eyes of the intruder. David Davidson, the English teacher. "Why are you selling yourself so cheap?" He began. He was a short man with a receding hairline and a pot belly that suited his huge build. "What are you talking about?" She yanked herself free from his grip. "Are you doing it for the money? What different does that make you from a whore." He frowned. Lily had always suspected he had feelings for her but he wasn't her type, would never be. "Have you gone mad?" She vented her anger on him and proceeded to leave when he attempted to hold her again. She was about to scream when that thick, bass voice interrupted out of nowhere. "What seems to be the problem?" With his suit draping over one shoulder and his sleeves rolled above his elbows, Roman towered over David, his eyes fixed on Lily. David immediately let go and raised his hands in surrender, slowly backing away. Lily looked at Roman for a second before resuming her steps towards where the driver had parked. He followed after her. She stopped after a few steps. "Why are you stalking me, Roman?" She asked in a gentle voice that was laced with such venomous anger. "I wasn't." "You are f*****g bitches, your father, you, everyone." Lily could no longer hold the tears in, "you don't need to be everywhere I am just to save me, believe me, I am doing just fine, no one is going to kidnap or attack me, thanks for your concerns." She stormed out of his presence in anger. Lily told the driver to take her to her old apartment. She didn't want to be with Roman. He had no right to follow her around like a security guard. What was he so afraid of anyways? * Lily got back to the mansion at exactly seven p.m. Her cats had been fed and she had taken bits of what was left in her old apartment, finished talking to her landlord and was back at the mansion. "Thank you." She said to the driver that had been patient with her the entire day and she sighed at the house. Another day of being a wife. There was an assistant to help her carry her stuff into the house and once again, it was empty downstairs. She could only wonder where this people spent the entirety of their day. She went into her shared bedroom and stopped at the doorstep with wide eyes. There were heart shaped balloons all around the room and a huge box on the bed. She walked up to it and there was a card on top. 'This is an apology gift. I'm sorry if we got on your nerves. I don't like many people, f**k it, I don't like anyone but I have always promised myself to be the best husband I can be. I'm learning the ways of marriage, forgive me if I come off as distant and rude, so, yeah. Roman.' His handwriting was as beautiful as his face and she couldn't help but smile. She was not a sucker for receiving gifts but this made her feel so much better. It was then she noticed that the swelling on the couch in the room was actually a figure under a blanket. The box was filled with chocolate and a red dress that looked costly. Lily cleared the bed but left the balloons. She went to wake him up, wondering why he was sleeping on the couch in the first place. When she pulled the blankets off, he was drowning in his sweat and taking heavy breaths. "Roman?" She called with worry. She leaned down to shake him awake but instead he pulled her in for a tight hug, still panting. It was then she realised, he was having a nightmare. thank you for the comments you guys, we have an i********: @faivic_ now
