Lily woke up with a headache and sat up after a moment of trying to figure out the events from the night before. The room was still empty and it was already bright outside. She was about to get out of bed when the bedroom door came open and Roman walked in with a breakfast tray. He set it on the bed beside her and sat next to it. "What's this for?" Lily raised an eyebrow and memories from last night flooded her head. She buried her face between her palms in embarrassment and shook her head. "What? You don't like it?" He wondered. She decided it would be best not to bring it up and so she offered a weak smile, "it's not that. Thank you for the meal." She said, looking at the pancakes that were inviting. She picked a piece and looked at anything but him, not liking the awkward silence that had suddenly developed between them. "So," he began. "About Cassie." Lily didn't have to ask to know that Cassie was the girlfriend in question and so she put the pancake down to give him her full attention. She didn’t know why her heart was beating so fast, but she felt like whatever Roman was going to say to her would make her even worried about the entire situation. "We were together for a long time, until she got pregnant for some bastard after prom night." He seemed so pissed about it, Lily wondered if he ever truly got over it. "As if it wasn't bad enough, she got married to him at nineteen, he was so much older, forty-five." Lily widened her eyes but she did not interrupt him. "Her father has a share in the company and she took his place as dad's secretary when he resigned and I took over dad's position at work. I promise, nothing like yesterday ever happened before now, I truly have no explanation for why she was flirting. We haven't had reasons to communicate since the break up. This time, Lily cut in, "but you didn't seem surprised." "That's because I'm not a very expressive person. I only asked her to leave the office mostly because I know she's trying to use me as a distraction in her problematic marriage. I wouldn't cheat on someone I'm with. What more can someone offer me other than s*x I can get from my partner?" His words made her jealous, knowing she wasn't the only partner he had been with but it also made her feel better. "I don't want her working with you." She folded her arms across her chest. "Are you jealous?" The corner of his mouth pulled into a smirk. "Please get rid of her. I'm still upset about it, no matter how you see it, I'm still your wife and we are still getting to know each other better." She told him. "If that will make you forgive me, I will gladly do that." He said in an assuring manner and she nodded positively. "Alright then. I will leave for work now but when I come back tonight, I want to take you on a dinner outing. Just you and I, just to make up for everything." He said while she continued to eat her breakfast. "You really don't have to." She shook her head but he hopped off the bed. "Why were you at work yesterday anyways?" He asked her, getting ready for work. "I brought you some homemade meal, I thought you might want something different. I refrigerated it and I can microwave it for you if you'd still be interested?" She raised a hopeful eyebrow and he nodded in approval. Lily smiled and left the room so she could do exactly that. She felt so much better knowing that things were finally going her way. * When it was a few minutes to ten at night, Lily's phone rang and brought her attention from the romantic comedy she was seeing She out the bowl of ice cream on the bed beside her and focused on the caller. Her excitement increased when she saw the phone call was from Roman. "Hey." She said in a simple voice, trying not to sound like she was too excited. "Start getting ready, I’ll be home soon." He told her and ended the call. Lily jumped out of bed. She had been waiting for their dinner outing the whole day, intentionally eating junk just so she wouldn’t be too full by the time they got to a restaurant. She hadn't bothered on what to wear because she knew her closet was filled with the most expensive fitted clothes that would be ready for her on any occasion. She decided to focus on her hair and makeup and sat in front of the dressing mirror the entire time. By the time she was done, she looked gorgeous. She was in a golden leather dress that cost almost ten thousand dollars. It clung so tight to her body, showing her curves off and there were two holes by the side that revealed her waist. She tucked her belly in to give the effect of a flatter stomach. Her hair was curled at the ends and framed her face right. She wanted to show off her huge hoop earrings and so tucked one side of her hair behind her ear. She chose the reddest of the lipsticks in her makeup tools and matched it with golden eyeshadow. She tried on fake eyelashes for the first time and when they felt too heavy, she replaced them with simple mascara on her natural ones. She coupled it all with a pair of shiny gold stiletto heels. She felt so proud of herself especially knowing she had achieved such a beautiful look without help from anyone. She was certain that things would turn out perfect and so when the door came open, she hurried to welcome Roman with excitement except, it wasn't Roman. She stopped immediately, she eyes him from toe to head in his suit and pants and hair put up in a bun. "Flynn?" She called in doubt, "why are you here?" "Wow. You're looking extra hot hmm?" He shut the door behind him, coming in further. "I did not say you could come in." Lily was suddenly feeling worried. "I didn’t ask." He shrugged, stiffing his hands into his pocket. "What do you want?" Lily didn’t realise she was backing away from him until her back hit the wall and he was only an inch away from her. "Damn you're so sexy, I should have married you myself." He leaned in to kiss her neck. She was too shocked to make a sound and once she attempted to move away from his sight, he pulled her back into his arms and tightened his hold around them. Lily let out a scream of horror, still in shock with what was going on. He was leaning in to kiss her lips when the door came open with a loud bang. It was Roman and when he saw what was happening, with bloodshot eyes, he charged towards his brother, prepared to take his life.
