Rayne looked to the sky, his eyes were trained on the northern star as it glittered and glowed. He whimpered as the wind pierced through his skin and froze him as he continued onto the path as his father told him. Beside him was his loving twin sister, although because of her height and build she looked older than him. He looked to her with tears bubbling in his eyes. “I’m scared, Ray…”
Ray gave her brother a soft apologetic look. “It’ll be okay Rayne… I-I’m sure you won't be his mate... a-and even if you are... I hear the alpha is kind and loving.”
Rayne cried his sister's words, no amount of sweet-talking would do anything for the scared omega. After all, he wasn't going by choice, in fact, he was being sold off by his father to be the possible mate of lead alpha Amari. Rayne sobbed and cried as they continued down the path. Before the sun rose they arrived at the Village of Amari, it was decorated with lanterns and had few people getting ready for their day of work. He saw many others dressed in revealing clothes that showed their skin, he noticed the lack of scent gland protection, often seen when an omega was preparing for a ritual, in fact, Rayne didn’t have his collar on to protect his scent gland. He walked down his feet sore, and his nerves high as his sister walked him through the village.
He looked to his sister desperate for her to take him far away but she was pushed away by villagers. “You aren’t allowed past this point.”
“Please that’s my brother-”
“Sorry, ma’am. This is the law.”
Rayne whimpered and walked forward behind the other omega’s into a large room, which was mostly empty given the amount of people in the room. Rayne and many others were dressed in white and were forced onto their knees by guards as Lead Alpha Amari walked into the room.
He walked in slowly and looked at each of the omega’s closely before pressing his nose to their scent glands trying to identify if the scent was one he was attracted to. Rayne tensed up as Amari stopped in front of him and pressed his nose to Rayne’s scent gland breathing in deeply before grinning to the smaller. “You shall become my mate.”
It was in that instant that everything Rayne knew was changed, he wouldn’t be able to see his sister in the morning, he wouldn’t be able to see mother’s greet their kids for the first time, and he wouldn’t be able to return to the little life he had. This male changed everything Rayne knew about his life. He looked into the taller, tanner man’s hazel eyes and spoke with malice, “I’d rather die than be your mate.”
A guard stepped forward growling as he heard the words fall off Rayen’s tongue. Amari stopped the guard as he raised his fist. Bending down and smiling at the omega. “You can’t fight fate, love. You can’t fight fate.” He dismissed everyone out of the room thanking the omega’s for coming to his village handing them a protection collar as they left the room. Each one of them smiling as they left knowing they weren’t forced into a mate marriage.
But for Rayne it only made his world sink deeper and deeper. He heard his sister scream and yell for Rayne. Rayne stood up and ran towards her and running into her arms sobbing. She began doing the same when she saw that unlike the other omega’s he didn’t have a protection collar. He clung to her as he crumbled in her arms begging her to take him far far away.
She cried with her brother as guards walked behind him, he clung to her as if she was his last breath on his dying day. The guards looked to each other feeling sympathy for the siblings before pulling on the omega boy's clothes trying to pull the twin siblings apart.
Rayne cried out and clung to his sister as his sister looked at him sadly, before letting go. She couldn't break any laws and keeping an omega away from his alpha was against the law.
Rayne looked towards his sister with eyes filled with betrayal as the guards of the castle returned him to "his place". He was placed in a room filled with extravagant things that only made Rayne's hate grow. Did Amari think that such things would win an omega's heart? Rayne growled, of course, he would think omega's were that vain. Rayne had half a brain to destroy everything in the room but felt that it would be more childish than anything else.
He stood up and grabbed all that he could open the closet only to groan and further growl. It was evident that the alpha believed that all omega's wore dresses, not that Rayne didn't like a pretty dress every now and then but the amount of dresses were just obscene. He tossed the rest of the ridiculous things the alpha had set out and turned towards the room. Of course, it wouldn't be like his home, where the room was filled with things he loved and cared for, but it was much better than the offensive amount of extravagantly vain room he had entered. He laid on the bed, that was now just white sheets, and closed his eyes finally relaxing.
It was then the sound of a door opening invaded his brief relaxation. He sat up and looked to the door where a man wearing clothes similar to a butler was bowing. “Master Rayne, Master Alpha Amari requests your presence in the dining area for breakfast.”
Rayne looked at the male and growled. “Tell him I’m not hungry.”
The butler looked worried, “But sir the Re-tired Alpha Ellie and Re-Tired Omega Winter will be attending to meet you.”
Rayne sneered, “I’m not hungry. Now leave.”
The butler sighed and left the room. Rayne sighed and walked into the closet crawling past the things and hiding in the very back. If Rayne knew alpha’s, and he did, the alpha would run here in anger and search for the omega to put him in his place, but if he couldn’t find him, the alpha could just seeth in anger by himself, and maybe if Rayne did that enough the alpha would tell him to leave and search for another omega.
Rayne grabbed a blanket making it the padding of a makeshift bed before wrapping himself in a blanket and closing his eyes allowing himself to dream back to times that were simple, times he loved so dearly.
