Amelia’s Pov
“Do you think I would sit here and watch you take my place as the Luna of the pack?”
“Think about it, you are a mere weakling, how can a weak omega with no wolf rule a pack filled with stronger wolves” Sophia lowered her head down to where I lay and whispered into my ears.
Dragging me up to my feet, she spat with disgust.
“I am the one who deserves to be the Luna of this pack and not a weakling like you”.
Sophia was able to find her wolf at the age of sixteen. Our father was a warrior and a mighty beta in the pack.
She had always been the most loved child since the death of my mother.
I had been reduced to the status of a maid by my step-mother, hoping to be fine once I found my mate, but it seemed obvious that all my hopes had been crushed, as my mate had rejected me without a fair hearing from me.
Swallowing the butter lump which hung in my throat, I wiped the tears which flooded my eyes with the back of my hands.
As I opened my mouth to question Sophia, she gave me a cold look.
Ignoring her cold stare, I went ahead to ask her.
“Sophia, you drugged me.”
“Why?”
“I thought you had always loved me?” I stuttered, trying hard not to break down in her presence again.
Ignoring my last question, she sniffed her nose and cleared her throat.
“Father sent for you, he will need your presence immediately” she whispered as she walked out from me, leaving me to my shattered heart.
I was thrown into a whirlwind of shock, confusion and indescribable pain as my heart clenched.
I scoffed, as Roland’s words of rejection rang in my head like a detonated bell.
The gazes of the pack warriors and other pack members averted towards me as I walked home, ready to face my fate.
The house was just a few miles away from the packhouse, so I got there in no time.
As I approached the door of the house, I heard yells,
Screams….
Silence….
Giggles …
And silence again.
I knew that they were all directed at me. The whole house must have been waiting for the return of the prodigal daughter; the scandal.
My heart somersaulted as I stepped into the house. That was undoubtedly the beginning of my destruction.
“You filthy thing, you had the guts to ruin my reputation” my father yelled as he advanced towards me, grabbing my hair tight and twisting my left ear with his other hand.
“Ouch!” I winced in pain at his t*****e.
“I was set up, Father” I cried as my cheeks burned red with pain.
The pain of betrayal?
Pain of Rejection?
Or the rough twisting of my hair and ears?
All of it overshadowed me.
“You inherited the waywardness of your mother, you s**t!”
“You had the nerves to ruin my name in the presence of the whole pack” my father questioned, his face seething with anger.
“This b***h, I had always known her as being promiscuous, but I hardly knew she could go to this extent” my step-mom spat, her voice filled with disgust.
“And worse was that she had always acted innocent”, Sophia scoffed.
“Where is Amelia?” A bold voice cut in.
“Will you open this door, Thompson?”
“We are from the palace.” The voice came aloud again, banging heavily on our door.
I rolled my eyebrows.
“From the palace?”
“Has Alpha Roland sent for me?”
My heart was gladdened with excitement, today was our mating ceremony, and it was certain that he might have called me back.
I was ready to have him back as my mate.
The door swung open and two heavily-bodied pack guards walked in.
They wore a long and stern look on their faces.
“You go, search all the rooms, search the nooks and crannies of this house” Laren, the senior guard, instructed the other guard.
“What is going on here?” My Father questioned them, but Laren’s response was just a cold stare.
“What were they searching for?” Sophia asked, confusion evident in each of our faces.
I crept to one corner of the room as I watched the guards ransacking the whole corner of our house.
“What happened?”
“What were they looking for?” I mumbled under my breath.
“Here is it!” The other guard exclaimed, my eyes widened in shock as he held the bracelet which was brought out from my personal bag.
It was the Alpha's bracelet of honor. It ought to be in his possession before the baton of leadership is to be handed over to him.
“She would be thrown into the dungeon".
"She stole the Alpha's bracelet”. The guard dropped the bombshell.
“Who…?” My Father asked swiftly as the guards raised my own bag.
“What…..?”
“That's a …lie” I stammered, as my eyes widened in horror.
I felt the glaring eyes of everyone on me.
I heard giggles and spiteful words from Sophia.
I rolled my eyes in horror.
I was also being accused of stealing the Alpha's bracelet. That was just too much for me.
“I never stole it” I cried as Laren; the senior guard landed a hot slap on my cheeks.
Hot streaks of tears flowed down my eyes and this time, I could hardly resist them.
“You are also lying?” My step-mother said, her eyes glaring with fury.
“You will be led to the dungeon.
The bracelet was found in your bag”, Sophia reminded me, her voice laced with happiness.
The dungeon was meant for criminals and not even the strongest wolf had ever made it alive after a visit to the dungeon.
“You are a disgrace to me” my father spat. I sensed the disappointment in his face, it was so obvious.
“I can't have a wild w***e and a thief under my roof, Amelia, you have only a few minutes to exit this house, and it's confined.”
“Make sure you never return to this house again”, My father dropped the bombshell and, like a sharp blade, it tore through my heart.
“What?”
I had expected other sorts of punishments, but actually not this one.
Was I going to be thrown into the dungeon, and also banished from the pack?
“Leave now!” My father stormed, jolting me away from my reverie of thoughts.
“What do we do now, Amelia?” My wolf,Lynda, asked me.
I was also as confused as she was.
“We need to leave here as soon as possible” she remarked, trying hard to cover the pain she felt.
“Soon, the news of our rejection and banishment from the pack will be all over the place, and we actually can't stand that.” My wolf whispered.
My response was just a blank stare. Different thoughts swirled in my head, coupled with the scene of the betrayal from my own step-sister and rejection from my mate, and the accusation.
All of this was so difficult for me to handle.
In a flash, I ran out of the pack speedily, my heartbeat resonating with each of my footsteps.
Letting out Lynda;my wolf took over. I transformed immediately, I was out of the pack.
Running deep in the forest, Lynda ran as fast as her legs could carry her, stopping at the deep end of the forest, the boundary of the pack.
