Chapter 1
Genesis 1: 3-4
God said, "I command light to shine!" And light started to shine. God looked at the light and saw it was good. He separated the light from the darkness and named the light "Day" and the darkness "Night".
But what if that light were human? Wouldn't they need to be protected? Kept safe from the darkness that sits in the hearts of all those that would want the light of god for themselves?

Darkness enraptured them. Smoke curls around them. The lume from the moon that hung in the sky casting shadows down below. Leaves fall silently. The crack of the fire filled the silence.
Two figures stand watching a small house burn in the silence. It had been set ablaze hours ago and now smoldering. The two figures share a look before taking off running into the woods, all that can be heard is a soft howl.

She was nothing special. From her brown hair that hung to her shoulders, to her hazel eyes, to the assortment of freckles that dotted her pale skin.
She was consumed with watching the sky from the window. There was something in the way the clouds moved, the way the wind blew ever so softly.
She took a deep breath a let it out slowly. A wordless call hung in the air and she shifted her weight and stiffened slightly.
A figure wrapped in the very shadows that were his namesake came into view outside and looked up at the girl standing in the window. She turns and walks out of the room.
Outside, she dons a cape and walks towards the figure who gives her his back. Lifting her up, they take off in silence. They head off into the woods.
Miles away. A pack of wolves gather in a clearing. Their coats a blend of golden browns to reds, to a dark ashen grey. The nudge each other in greeting, some huff and others grunt softly. The pack together take off in a run through the woods. Moving effortlessly as a unit before breaking off one by one. A distance away a herd of deer graze casually. One by one would fall to a wolf. Each finding their prey. The pack ate together in silence. Once done they cleaned each other with soft licks. They then broke off. Some Leaving in pairs, others off by themselves. One catches a faint scent on the wind and takes off into the brush. Alone.
The only sound was that of falling leaves.
