Rowan and I ran through the forest near my house. It was the most wonderful feeling I've ever felt in my life. The dirt under my paws, the wind in my fur. I wanted to go faster. I pushed myself to go faster. I yipped happily until I heard a low warning growl. I stopped and looked back at Rowan. He seemed to be trying to tell me something.
I opened my mind to him. The little string and bell in my head was going crazy. "You've crossed the border! Get back here before you get killed!" He yelled.
I whimpered and tucked my tail as I walked back to him. Just as I was about to cross the border again, I heard a hiss. The exact same hiss that I've heard my dad make. I stopped and turned to look around. Out of the shadows stepped a tall slender built man. He had purple eyes and chestnut brown hair.
From the angle he was on, he could only see my gold eye. "What are you doing here wolf?" The hiss in his voice was clear.
My ears dropped and I lowered my body a little. This was a vampire. Just like my dad, but he was colder. Colder than Rowan was. I gulped and just like that, this vampire was pinning me to a tree by my throat. I yelped and squirmed as I kept my eyes shut, wishing I could just disappear. "Let her go! She's new and doesn't know anything about us!" I heard Rowan yell.
"Shift wolf. I want to see your face!" The vampire hissed in my face. I tried to, but I couldn't. It was like there was a block that I couldn't get passed. I whimpered once again and finally opened my eyes to give the vampire a pleading look. Once he saw my eyes, he let go and I hit the ground hard. "You're.. a hybrid.. and.. my mate.."
What!? I looked up at the vampire with shock written through my face. I had two mates!? I felt an immense pain in my head. I wanted to scream, but all that came out, was a howl. I don't know how, but within seconds of my howl stopping, my dad and Alpha Titus were standing at the border.
I looked at my dad with a scared and pleading look. He knew at that moment, that I needed him more than anything. "I am a vampire born to your clan. My father, the vampire kings right hand. My mother, his mate from the western clan. Please, give me my daughter. That's all I ask of you. She knows not of anything we know. I've kept her away from it because hybrids are hunted by many." Dad stepped over the border, just as easily as I had. I looked at Rowan and Alpha Titus. They were unable to cross. It was like there was a wall there or something, for them.
"You are right hand Thomas's son?"
"Yes. That's is correct. As you can see, I crossed the border with no problems. Just as my daughter has."
"Tell me, why should I send my mate back with you? She has greater potential here than anywhere in wolf territory."
"She is both vampire and werewolf. Her mother, my mate, was born to that pack. Please, she is still 17. Let me have her back."
The vampire stood eyeing dad for a moment before pulling out a phone from his pocket. He spoke fast and quiet. The next thing I knew, there were near twenty vampires standing near us. "John! Oh my baby boy! I missed you so much!" A strange older woman hugged and kissed dad's cheeks like there was no tomorrow.
"Hello son. Haven't seen or heard from you in 19 years." An older man spoke. He had his arms crossed over his chest.
"Yeah well, last time we spoke you told me I was dead to you because my mate was a wolf and I wouldn't reject her." Dad's eyes narrowed at my supposed grandfather.
"That's enough you two. It's gone on long enough. 19 years is too many. Now, will somebody tell me why there is a wolf on my land?" I guess he's the king?
"She is my daughter, King Ray. She knows not of anything we know. She's a hybrid and I've kept her away from all of this."
"Ah, yes. The hybrid vampire-werewolf, Angelina Valentine." He paused and looked right at me. "You are welcome on this land whenever you please. Simon, my son, you will let her go home with John."
Simon's hands clenched at his sides. "No father. I refuse to allow my mate to go back to those wolves! She is better off here with me!"
Rowan's growl was loud and stopped everyone from speaking. "Mine!" He growled again.
I was shocked. Who would do this to me? Why did I have two mates? I don't want to choose! I just wanted to go home. I quickly ran and jumped into my dad's arms. He held onto me, rubbing his nose on my cheek like he always did when I was afraid. "It will be okay. I will figure this out, Angel."
It was a while yet before I finally got to go home with my dad. Nothing was decided and Rowan and Simon were glaring at each other as dad and I listened. Well, dad listened. I was just confused and wanted to go to sleep.
I groaned and flopped on the floor the moment dad and I entered our house. "Come on, my little Angel. I'll take you to bed." He picked me up and carried me to my bed.
