CHAPTER 001
"Princess Aubrey, I am worried your father the king won't approve of this, you are set to be married to Prince Dominic."
"My father, hell, the entire kingdom has no say about who I choose to be in love with. I don't care, I will not marry Prince Dominic."
"It is vital you marry Prince Dominic, Princess. It is for the good of the Kingdom."
"Yeah, it's what everyone expects of me, it is my duty, but this time I am going to do what's best for me."
"Princess!!!"
Princess Aubrey is a rare beauty in the kingdom of Maliover.
She is the first daughter of King Ragnarok and Queen Alice, a very powerful pair.
Queen Alice was originally from a far away kingdom, so the marriage between them both was consecutive. They had met and fallen in love at a royal ball hosted yearly.
A masquerade ball where the entire kingdom's royalties meet.
A place where nobles and royalty alike meet with hope to find love, and in the case of Queen Alice and King Ragnarok they did meet, thus their marriage union.
Now it is the time of the year for their first daughter to go along with this ritual, but unfortunately for them, their daughter is hesitant.
Princess Aubrey is a force to be reckoned with. She is bold and undeniably sophisticated and well poised-she is the perfect daughter-in-law the royals would want for their sons.
Those with just a daughter's curse, while those who had sons as heirs were excited to send invitations to the kingdom of Maliover.
They were all rejected year after year, but the marriage proposals never stopped coming.
Until King Ragnarok and Queen Alice took it upon themselves to accept that of Prince Dominic of Lithium kingdom.
He is a fine young man, brave and a worthy husband for their daughter, but then Princess Aubrey wouldn't hear of it.
She had always had someone in her heart and there was no stopping her.
She fell in love with someone she shouldn't have, someone beneath her and that alone could make her lose her crown and possibly her life, but she doesn't care.
It is believed and said since time immemorial, that love is the strongest force in the universe, and it is true that those in love are quite stubborn, and Princess Aubrey is no different in this regard.
A year ago, at a banquet in the throne room, knights were being celebrated. Princess Aubrey had never been to one, but since she was getting stronger and old enough to rule the kingdom and even marry, she was asked to attend this particular banquet to get acquainted with how things work, and that was it.
There was a very young, vigorous and gorgeous dead man. Cosmetic eyes were portraying strength and dominance and she wanted him. She knew right then and there that this was the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
That night she excused herself and walked up to him and whispered into his ear, "Come with me dear sir."
Knowing her origin and class, he bowed and followed her out to the huge trees just behind the castle.
"Your highness, to what do I owe this invitation?" He asked as he bowed his head.
It was not accepted to look into their eyes. That was a sign of disrespect and knowing Sir Lancelot, who was the most noble of all the knights, he dared not disobey the rules, let alone the most common of them all.
"You are so good-looking, Sir Lancelot."
"Thank you your highness."
"Raise up your head. I want to have a real glance at you."
"I don't think I can do that, your highness. It is not in my place."
"There is no one here, you can look up."
Lancelot was still refusing to do that, but Aubrey decided she would have to order him to and she did.
"Sir Lancelot, look up at me, that is an order. Will you defy me?"
"I wouldn't dream of it, your highness." Lancelot replied.
He raised his head and what he saw was mesmerizing. Princess Aubrey was so beautiful. This was the first time he would be looking at her up close.
'Wow!! She is more like an angel. Oh my goodness, I wish she and I could be close. But I am just a soldier in her father's army, and it is against the law,' Lancelot thought.
"You are so handsome, Lancelot, and good-looking."
"I dare to say you are more beautiful than reports suggest your highness."
"Thank you, Sir Lancelot, you are new here and appointed to serve at my father's side, right?"
"Yes, your highness."
"That means we will see each other quite often..." Princess Aubrey was trying to make a conversation when a voice chimed in loudly,
"Princess Aubrey!!!"
'Oh no, I am so dead if they catch me here with her, what do I do?' Lancelot thought.
"Relax, you are not doing anything wrong." Princess Aubrey said, noticing that Lancelot was having cold feet.
"But..."
"Fine, if that will ease your panic, I will go to them first. You follow later, is that okay?"
"Yes, your highness."
"See you soon, Sir Lancelot."
"Yes your highness," Lancelot said humbly and bowed. Princess Aubrey was hesitant about leaving him there, but she had to else, Lancelot could get killed right where he stood.
Princess Aubrey ran back in and King Ragnarok was quite upset that his daughter had left the ceremony.
'Father seems angry at me, I know I wouldn't hear the end of it.' she thought.

"Where were you last night? Father was calling for you to make a toast. When he couldn't find you, he was willing to send out a search party..."
"Oh I went out to the garden, Anna."
"Really? With that stranger? You know if father catches you, with a strange man alone in the gardens it could get him killed"
"I would never let that happen, sweetie. Never."
"So are you in love with this stranger?" Anna asked
"Shh... father is coming."
They both acted like nothing was happening and greeted warmly.
