CHAPTER 69

1145 Words
KIZZIAH YOU NEED TO LEAVE Before I can even realize what she’s doing, a knife is already at my throat and an arm wedged between my jaw and chest. “I asked you a question!” she half growls, peeking outside the window to see if someone heard her. “I need help,” I reply, pushing her off me. "I am still an alpha. Don’t you ever do that again.” She sheathes the knife into a pouch, ignoring my warning. “What sort of help?” I notice that her eyes are no longer grey like the last time. They are now black. “I need her back.” “That’s not my problem. We had a deal and I kept my part of it.” “Not if you don’t want me spilling the truth,” I retort, not backing down from her refusal. She chuckles first and then starts to laugh gently. “Says the alpha who agreed to keeping the Alpha King’s daughter for his son.” I grit my jaw hard and grunt. “You suggested it!” “And you gladly accepted!” “You were going to kill her!” “And for the right reasons!” she lowers her voice, clenching her fists. “You could have taken me to the Council like you said that day,” her eyes sneer at me. “You can’t spill the truth without implicating yourself. And trust me, the King won’t think twice before tearing your head off your body. And your son too.” My anger subsides at the truth of her words. “What were your reasons?” “None of your business, like I said,” she starts pacing the room, rubbing her temples. “You need to leave the pack immediately.” “I can’t!” Leaving would mean facing Nathan Hunt on my own. “I need the King’s help with dealing with the alpha that took her from me.” She stops me with a finger to her mouth when someone passes by the window. “Why can’t you take her back from him?” she continues when the person passes by. “He is Nathan Hunt, Alpha of the Thunderstorm Pack. Other than your pack, he is the next most powerful pack.” “Oh,” she says with a blank face. “How do you plan on getting the King to help you?” “If I can convince him to summon Nathan Hunt to a meeting,” her eyes dart around their sockets as she tries to connect the dots. “I still don’t get it.” “He will get Nathan Hunt arrested for stealing my son’s mate.” She snorts loudly, “Your son’s mate. We both know that’s not true.” “Fated or not, she’s his mate. That was the original plan.” “Anyway. What if he tells the truth?” she asks a question that has been on my mind. “Lies I will refute totally and…” I stop as a thought occurs to me. “I hope it won’t get to that part, but if it does, I have a plan.” Plan to eliminate the alpha of the Thunderstorm Pack on his way to the meeting. Rogues will do the work as usual. She sighs heavily. “I don’t believe in your plan. Listen carefully to me,” her eyes hold mine intensely. “I can assure you that your plans will fail and when the king finds out the truth, I will deny everything.” “Even if you do, I have facts.” She breaks into a laugh again. “Who do you think he will believe? You or me? I am closer to the family than you,” she shakes her head in amusement. “You’re a stranger while I am a pack member and family with the alpha.” “No you won’t!” I grit out hard and grab her hand tightly in mine. “You will help me speak to the alpha and convince him to be my ally or…” She cuts me off by jerking her hand away and brings out the knife again, placing it to my neck. “You will leave immediately and never show your face here again,” she grits out in a serious tone. “Do you understand me?” “Crystal,” I reply, clenching my jaw and knowing there’s no way I am leaving here without getting what I came for. She pulls the knife away, her eyes looking outside. “Your son is going to get arrested if you don’t pull him away from that girl. Alpha Malachai is already scowling.” I turn to the window, and sure enough, Saul is still acting like a fool with the girl. Turning back, I find the lady gone. Holding back a frustrated growl, I leave the room, heading for my foolish son. “What the hell are you doing?” I link him. He stops what he’s doing and links back. “Training?” “And flirting. Get away from her immediately!” “Why?” he asks before an alarm sounds and training stops. He smiles at the girl, and I notice the girl suddenly go tense. She says something to Saul and hurriedly leaves. No doubt asked to do so by her alpha. “Can’t you see that they are watching you?” I fume at Saul. “Who?” he asks cluelessly, adding to my anger and frustration. “And why are we using the link?” “So they can’t listen to what we are saying,” I link him back. His cluelessness is making my anger spiral. “Really? Why are they doing so?” I grab his arm and pull him away. “Are you so clueless to not see what is going on?” my eyes dart about, looking for anyone staring. But no one is as everyone is preparing to leave the place. “Good thing I found you two here,” a voice says behind us, and we turn to see the alpha prince. “Alpha Midriel,” we greet him. “No need for formalities. Just call me Midriel,” he says with a warm smile. “I was hoping I could hang out with Saul if it’s okay by you?” Saul and I exchange looks. This could be a good idea. “You don’t need my permission.” He looks at Saul. “Want to hang out with me and some friends?” “Sure. Why not?” “Sure,” I smile, loving how this is playing out. If Saul and the prince get close, our chances of getting an alliance are going to be solid. This is getting better than I expected.
