CHAPTER59

NATHAN DECLAN CAN'T COOK Declan hasn’t stopped staring at her as they walk back inside. “Let’s take her to the kitchen and make something for her. It’s late, and the maids are done for the day,” I tell him, knowing he would take her to the dining room. “We could wake them up or have Kelly...” he begins to argue, but I cut him off. “No way. I’ll handle it. Now go make something for her, or allow me to come out.” “No way. I can feed my mate,” he growls, possessiveness dripping from his words. “Our mate,” I correct him, trying to keep a semblance of control. “Yeah,” he scoffs, still staring at her. “Beautiful…” “And quit staring at her like a puppy,” I scold. “I can be anything for her right now,” he purrs, and I roll my eyes at him. “Is there something on my face?” Jessica asks, her voice tinged with curiosity. “Just your gorgeous eyes and entire skin, mate,” he laughs at her blush. “And that too.” “Thank you, Dec.” “I like the name. Thank you, mate,” he smiles and smirks at me. “I have a nickname already.” “Mine is going to be sweeter than yours,” I retort, trying to tone down my jealousy. I know he’s my wolf and we are one, but I can’t help feeling envious. “Whatever. I have a mate to feed,” he says as we enter the kitchen. “It’s empty,” she notes, her voice echoing slightly in the spacious room. “I should probably prepare something.” “No!” Declan and I burst out together. “I will prepare something for you to eat,” he pulls her towards one of the chairs facing the kitchen table. “Sit and watch me make magic.” She giggles at his playfulness. “Okay, Dec. Show me some magic,” excitement fills her voice as she smiles up at him. “Coming right up,” Declan winks at her and turns to the burners, linking me. “So, what are we cooking?” “I thought you were going to make some magic happen?” I scoff, laughing at my love-sick wolf. “Can’t think of what to feed your mate?” “You either help me, or I will shift and go hunting for something in the forest to feed her with,” he threatens. “You wouldn’t dare!” How dare he think of feeding her raw meat. We only eat that in our wolf form. She hasn’t even shifted into her wolf. “You can’t feed her raw meat. Give me control now.” “Okay, I won’t. But I need help on what to cook for her. I don’t know what to do here.” “Something wrong?” Jessica asks, her brows knitting together. “Nothing, beautiful. I am just thinking about what would be perfect for someone as perfect as you,” he flashes her a big smile. “Any favorites?” She shrugs. “Anything will be fine. It’s late already.” Declan grunts at me in the link. “Are you going to help me or not?” “Grab a pack of spaghetti from the pantry, check the fridge for some leftover sauce…” I start, guiding him through the steps. “How am I supposed to make all these into food?” Declan looks down helplessly at the ingredients. “This is massive!” “Massive?” I peek down at what he’s calling massive. “That’s just a few items. Are you sure you don’t want me to take over?” “No. Just teach me how to prepare it.” “It’s obvious you don’t know what to do,” Jessica says, her giggles filling the room as she moves closer. She stands near us and curls her hands around mine, looking at the items. “You can’t even make a simple spaghetti dish, Dec.” He shrugs, giving her a sheepish look. “I can hunt a rabbit for you.” “Eww! Gross, Dec. You just made me lose my appetite.” “Sorry, mate,” he apologizes with a pout. “I only know how to eat such.” She pokes around the items on the table and sighs. “It’s late. Maybe you can make sandwiches?” “Uhhh…” Declan scratches behind his head, already linking me for help. “Don’t worry, I will make it. Want one?” “Sure,” he grins happily and moves back to watch her prepare the sandwiches. She moves around the kitchen with ease, reaching for things from the cupboard as if she were the one who organized it. Declan purrs softly when she bends to pick something from a lower cupboard, her butt in the air. He starts painting pictures in my head that cause havoc down south. “Stop looking at her,” I growl at him. “And look at what? She’s the most captivating thing in the room. Don’t you think?” he refuses, continuing to gawk at her. “You’re only going to cause more trouble for us.” “We will help ourselves later. This picture is enough to do many wonders for us,” a low growl rumbles through my chest. “We can damn the Council and claim her.” “Give me control now!” “Relax, buddy. Just pulling your legs,” he laughs, easing forward on the table when she turns our way with two plates of sandwiches. “Ready?” “Yeah,” she puts a plate in front of him and the other before her. “Eat.” “Thanks, beautiful,” he pecks her lips softly before looking down at his plate. “Looks and smells nice.” “Thanks,” she replies before taking a bite of her sandwich, smiling up at him.
