On the third hole, Garrett’s sweaty armpits gave away his apprehension. The heat didn’t help, but he had embarrassed himself with his performance so far. Eron and Bob scored par, Denny was one or two over, but Garrett was ten over par. They stood back and watched Bob tee off on the third hole. He looked for the pin, pivoted his hips back and forth while eyeing his target. Bob made a practice swing, and then stepped closer to the ball. He repeated the eyeing of the green and his hip rock. With one swift stroke, he pulled the club shoulder over his shoulder and swung. The whoosh of the club and the knock against the ball drowned out any other sounds on the course.
