I open my eyes and glance at the clock on the nightstand. It’s 7:04 pm. I roll out of bed and plant my feet on the floor, looking down at my fuzzy socks as I quickly get up and walk down the hallway towards Savannah’s room to check on her. She has her door shut, so I knock quietly but there is no answer. I reach down and turn the knob, slowly opening the door to find her room is empty. I shut the door and turn around to walk down the hallway towards the kitchen. I stop as I casually pass by Sophia’s room. Now, normally I would walk by without trying to entertain the thought of opening that door, but tonight, something felt different. Curiosity gets the best of me, and I feel compelled to open it this time. Plus, I just need to feel her presence in her personal space at this moment. I miss
