LAURA The beams of sunlight burst through the blinds. I squint and run over to pull the shade. Man, it’s too early for that. I adjust my robe and pour myself a cup of coffee before plopping down at the kitchen table. Savannah enters the kitchen, dragging across the floor in her house shoes with her flannel pajamas on, she stops and reaches above her head to stretch,” Morning, what’s for breakfast?” she asks. I stop and eye her curiously, “You want breakfast? Girl, you haven’t asked me that in months!” She shakes her head and plops down in front of me, “I don’t know, I’m really hungry today.” I jump up and open the fridge, scanning to find something to make her. I pull out the cream cheese and the pack of bagels above the fridge, “How about a toasted bagel this morning, love?” I ask.
