EVELYN – SEPTEMBER 1943
It didn't take long for Evelyn to realize that she was ill-equipped to care for two children. She thought about all her experience working for Sarah, and then the Gardners, would have given her all she needed to know about raising children, but it was so different with children of her own. No set hours for work. No time when the children were in the care of someone else. Russell had new responsibilities at the job that kept him there for long hours. At least he said it was the job keeping him away, and Evelyn didn't have the emotional energy to question him.
