“What did you say?” Tara asked, turning to the man who had spoken earlier. She wasn't sure if she heard him clearly.
“Did I stutter?” the man replied. “You're getting married to Drew today” he added, as he and the other man pushed Tara forward.
Tara's eyes widened in shock. “You can't force me” she shouted “I won't marry him” said Tara as she struggled again to break free from their grip.
“You have no choice” the second man who's been silent all this while spoke this time.
“What do you mean I have no choice?” Tara retorted almost immediately, without giving him a chance to breathe after talking.
The idea of getting married to the man who killed her childhood friend, was beginning to bring crazy thoughts to her head.
“I'll never surrender, I'll never be his” Tara muttered under her breath.
Remembering the look in his eyes when he stood over Casey sent shudders down her spine.
Suddenly, the men stopped at the foot of a staircase, still holding Tara.
And for the first time, Tara raised her head up to look at her surroundings. It was a beautiful house, and maids were walking to and fro, with a look of urgency on their faces. Her captor must be rich, Tara thought.
Tara's heart skipped as Drew approached where she stood. As he came down the stairs, she noticed the smirk on his face and it made her blood boil.
When he got to where they were, he tried to brush her hair and touch her face, but Tara shook her head violently and he chuckled.
“I believe you've been informed about our upcoming wedding,” Drew said, maintaining the smirk on his face.
“I'd never marry you” Tara screamed at him “you murderer” she added.
The smirk on Drew's face disappeared. He moved his face closer to Tara's as if to kiss her, “you have no choice dear. You either marry me, or you die like your friend did” he said, whispering in her ear.
His words angered Tara, and before he could pull his head up, she bit his ear and blood gushed out. One of Drew's men who held Tara struck her in the mouth.
“Take her to the maids, let them prepare her for the ceremony.” Drew growled in pain.
Tara knew the wound she inflicted on Drew would soon heal, him being a werewolf.
But she felt a little bit of satisfaction, as she was pushed up the stairs by the two men who stuck closer to her than the clothes on her back.
When they got to the top of the stairs, one of the men opened the second door on their left and pushed her inside, before giving some inaudible instructions to the three women in the room.
Tara stared at the pure white wedding dress which was displayed on the bed as the words Drew whispered to her resounded in her head over and over again.
Before she knew what was going on, the three women in the room had begun to remove her clothes, to put on new ones. One of them began to dress her hair, all without her permission.
And in a few minutes, Tara looked at her reflection in the mirror, she was clad in white from head to toe. She looked pretty on the outside but deep down she was far from it.
Immediately they finished dressing her up, Tara was handed over to the two men who had brought her up, and she was whisked away to the wedding venue.
Tara stood across Drew, the man who murdered her close friend about to get married to him. It all still seemed like a crazy dream.
“Do you take Drew to be your lawfully wedded husband?” the priest's question jolted her back to reality. Tara thought long and hard before she answered, the eyes of everyone in attendance were on her. After a while she made up her mind.
“I…….I….. “ she stammered. “No, I don't” she said defiantly, she would never agree to marry Drew, not on her terms.
Drew was livid.
The look in his eyes could tear a hole into anyone. Clenching his fists, he walked over to where the priest stood and whispered something into his ear.
After a moment, the priest continued, “do you Drew take her to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
“Yes, I do” Drew answered instantly, still fixing his soul piercing gaze on Tara.
“Then by the power vested in me, I hereby pronounce you werewolf husband and wife, you may kiss the bride.” he concluded.
Immediately he finished, Drew walked away like nothing had happened. He didn't seem too interested in kissing his bride.
Tara on the other hand was shocked. How did she end up married without her permission? She thought saying no would make a difference but obviously it didn't.
She wasn't given much time to at least enjoy her wedding reception when she was rushed into a waiting car by the two men who may well be called her friends now. They sandwiched Tara in-between themselves before signaling the driver to zoom off.
Tara could see Drew driving himself in a car ahead of them, and she could kill to know what was going on in his head. Why did he marry her? she thought, what is he planning to do with her? an uncountable number of questions popped up in her head as she stared at Drew with disgust.
Tara finally took her eyes off Drew, and then, she saw a car heading in their direction, and inside were two men.
Tara could recognize them as werewolves from her pack.
As soon as they drove past them, Tara screamed at the top of her voice “help, help me. I'm being kidnapped.” Immediately one of the men in the car covered Tara's mouth with his hands. But it was already too late.
The men from Tara's pack slowly stopped their car and turned around, they heard her.
Noticing this, the driver increased his speed, but the werewolves from Tara's pack pursued after.
