Chapter One
God I hate my life...
Today is graduation. All of my friends are in my dorm room. I love them and I know they love me too. But sometimes I feel like lining them up and hit them with a baseball bat like the ball itself. Today is one of those days. They're running, laughing, doing makeup, blasting music burning my ear, clothes everywhere,.......this place is a wreck. I am searching for my left pair of shoe.
"AAA...!" I scream, I feel like I stepped on a knife. I lift my foot and try to see what I actually stepped onto. CHIPS! Where the hell do that came from. I'm done I swear this girls need to learn a lesson.
"Get out!" I yell making them stop whatever they were doing. Until a light flashes just like the one on a camera light do, we all turn to the direction where it came from. Berry, holding her phone with a cheesy smile plastered on her face.
"Cheese?"asks trying not to laugh.
Well who would say no to that? I break the gaze and start laughing which is followed by berry and the others. We stopped when we hear a heavy pound on the door. Laura turn to face me with a questioning look.
"Gurl you hiding some dope in here. Cause it seems like the cops...."the door slam open taking as all by surprise.
Ms. G
Our Proctor is standing with her hands on her hips, arching her left brow,
"You girls, I swear I am going to kick your asses." She release a long breath that she was holding "you're running late if you haven't noticed. You're only left with 15 minutes, well that's if you leave right now. Or else you'll have to sacrifice your legs." Pointing to our shoeses.
Stella winces at the thought of running with the high hills that we're wearing.
"We're almost done Ms.G " Stella winks at her with a fake adorable smile and pulled Ms.G into the room and shut the door behind her. Which is followed by different gaspings at a time.
"Now, one last pic guys." We all gather smashing Ms.G in the middle.
"say 'graduation'!" Berry chirps and we follow.
"Graduation!" The last thing I heard before they all run like they saw a ghost was the cracking of the camera. I lock the door behind me and call them out
"Wait for me!" I follow them. Even Ms.G was running with us and I think she thought she was graduating with us too.
We were breathing heavy when we arrive at the hall, it's crowded. All the teachers, parents and other guests are sitting waiting for students to appear. My heart is about to explode with all the running, laughing and quick selfie poses on our way to the hall, but my knees I can't help it they're burning like hell. I collected my breath and put up my best fake smile when one of our coordinating teacher apear infront of me with a frown on his face.
"Are you always carefree?" Mr. McClain asks.
"Not usually " I reply.
"Huh, you're up when the dean is done" shaking his head "don't ruin this!" and storms out of my face. There was one time actually. "Check" I yell and I m sure he rolled his eyes. Phew.
I roll my eyes when I see the '3 angels' Please get the sarcasm. I gave them the name cause loo couldn't stop gossiping about them, believe me we tried to make her stop, so we needed a safe code. They act as they're angels but the very opposite is true. They treat every person outside their tiny group as shits. And over there are the 'nerds'. Fixing their glasses and laughing at each other by literally nothing, wearing coats that they don't fit in, peoples calling them 'idiots' as they pass by them. Yeah and to the right there are the music persons 'octaves'. That name was assigned by Patricia. Oh behind the '3 angles' I mean demons, are the 'hotdogs' I gave them the title, I thought it will perfectly fit them. They play soccer and basketball. I am not boy crazed but for real, they deserve the title. And the last but not the least are our future generations 'the gentles'. They've got a debate group, they tour and compete, they discuss the politics of different countries and Ethiopia's too. They usually attend big conferences. Once they attended a meeting in UN on global warming and their idea impressed a lot of leaders. And that changed their lives.
"Hey olive, take the stage" Mr. McClain waves waking me up. Confidence time. I head up to the stage and our dean hands me the mic by introducing me as the 'senior's president of the year' to the guests. And they accepted me with an applause. Yes, I am the president of this senior year actually, I wanted to be the students council president but it has a lot of process which I don't want to attend. And yes I am smart but not nerdy, gentle but not arrogant, caring but not selfless, good looking but I don't boast.
"Good morning everyone, I am known as Olive Weinmart, as our dean called I am the president of the senior year students in ISI (international school of image). While I was in this position I know we all have passed through a lot of losses, achievements, heart breaking situations and also unforgettable moments like the different days we've celebrated. When I was elected to lead this position, I never thought I would last a week because, I've never been in such school, society or even country. Every single time we've passed through were amazingly beautiful. But here I am with all the support you gave me lead me through this day. Well being a senior student's president also thought me how graduation will be so COOL." I chuckle and they laugh "living far from family was hard for all of us, but we never gave up we fought hard to reach this day. And hardwork pays off. Living in a multiethnic country made us learn and experience new things that changes our view of life. I know how parents are excited to see the already growing babies graduate, well so do we. Am not going to keep talking cause I'm feeling like you all gonna snatch the mic and scream congratulations!" I yell to the word and our batch started throwing their capes in the air. "Nice job Eagles". 'Eagles' is the nickname of the school given by the first batch that have graduated here. I got off the stage and sit on my spot between my girls.
"Congrats babe, nice speech you had over there" somebody whispers from behind.
Greck.
NOT MY BOYFRIEND. Definitely not
"Thanks Grecky" I whisper back.
After few parents from parents committee had their speech, it was time. A time for a whole new change. A time we all have been waiting for. Everybody's dream and ambition depends on this piece of paper. Our dean is about to announce certain students that got full scholarship plus receives pocket money, loan free.
"And now," the dean speaks " the time has come that we all have been Waiting for. 15 students as always have been picked by different universities and colleges," taking his time. I look to my left and to my right, everyone is saying their prayers half are about to cry. Mom waved at me and showed me her fingers are crossed. Dad on the other hand gave me a thumbs up. I smile at that. When I was about to turn around my eyes met sage's. Sage is the captain of the basketball team and one of the hotdogs. He's hot, tall, got perfect physique, smart, and arrogant. He smirks sending me a wink, I roll my eyes controlling the smile that was about to show. I turn to my position as the dean starts speaking.
"The first student will be...."
