  Julie had almost drifted off to sleep when Dax spoke again. "Let's get you covered up, baby girl."   She murmured something unintelligible but didn't stop him as he moved back enough to maneuver her. Dax couldn't help but smile as he helped curl back up in the middle of the makeshift bed. She was so worn out that he had to do most of the work, and once he had her buried under the blankets again, she was instantly asleep.   He stared down at her for a while, unable to tear himself from the sight of her beautiful thick lashes laid gently on her cheek. Her full lips were parted ever so slightly, allowing quiet snores to fall out occasionally. Julie looked so small, soft, and vulnerable, and Dax felt the intense need to protect her from everyone and everything.   God help anyone that even
