She was spinning, spinning, faster and faster. The night sky looked like a blender of stars going round and round and the snowflakes spun dizzyingly out of control. Occasionally they hit her face and stung in the icy wind. She laughed, but it sounded so far away, tinny and thin in the crisp mountain air. Music piped over the speakers, unidentifiable. Suddenly with a thud the spinning stopped, her head however continued to whirl but other than her pride she was unhurt. “Bev?, Beverly? Are you all right?” Her father’s concerned face came into view as he moved across the ice. “Get up Beverly, you’ll get cold.” She started to protest. “Beverly, get up." “In a minute," she said. Her father laughed and held out his hand. “Beverly, it's closing time, get up.” Her father’s voice changed
