Having Lucian back gave me something I didn't realize I'd lost. Strength. Not the kind that came from my healing powers or my reawakening, but the quiet kind that came from knowing someone had my back.
I needed it more than ever because Sarah wasn't letting up.
"I'm telling you, she's working with him," I heard her voice carry down the hallway as I walked toward the dining hall. "Think about it. A Red Fang Alpha shows up right when our healer arrives? That's not a coincidence."
I stopped just outside the doorway and listened. Three pack members were gathered around Sarah, hanging on her every word like she was sharing gospel truth.
"But she's been helping our sick," one of them said. "My son would be dead if not for her."
