Chapter 15: The Black Iron Jason shops at independently owned stores on Cree Island, many of which he has frequented on his previous visits. He purchases thank you cards at the stationary shop, a black coffee and cinnamon roll at Cupcakes, and two bottles of blackberry wine at Yolanda Vine’s Wine Shoppe. He stops at other stores, hauls his purchases back to his truck, and eventually decides to have lunch at The Black Iron, a small bistro positioned by the lake that offers reasonably priced meals that are quite appealing. Jason sits next to a chilly window slick in rain and ice. Wind knocks against the pane of glass; a sound he feels is more soothing than annoying.
