Chapter 17: ThunderCats

1128 Words

Chapter 17: ThunderCats Jason parks the Tundra in the cottage’s drive. He turns off its ignition, pulls its keys, and walks over the cobblestone to the house. As always, he enters through the kitchen door: up the narrow steps, through the door once it’s unlocked and pulled open, and steps on ceramic tile near the small kitchen table. The first thing he notes is rather puzzling. No lights fill the downstairs area. Usually there’s an LED nightlight on the short stretch of hallway that parts through the kitchen, dining room and living room. This evening is pitch-black dark inside the place, no thanks to the cloudy overcast outside. No biggie. Maybe the electric’s out because of the recent rainstorm. He tries the switch by the kitchen door. No luck. The electric’s definitely out. No problem.
