The Past

They say you dont find your mate u til you are sixteen. Well I wont be sixteen for about six months. But since Kaley is two years older she has known for awhile. I just got released from the hospital and we were fully intent on finishing the mate bond. I am so happy that Kaley is my mate. It explains so much. Now I know why I have had a hole in my heart for so long. I think subconsciously I knew. I think when Kaley turned of age and found out the truth that I to somehow knew that she was my other half.

Once we reach home we walk inside hand and hand. Just her touch seems to fill my needs. I havent been able to let her go since I woke up. My hand has been in hers the whole time. And I am the happiest I have been in some time. That is until we put our feet on the bottom stair on our way up to my room.

"Arcturus and Kaley." The stern voice of Kayden stops us dead in our tracks. We turn around to see Mom, dad, Kayden and Cameron all standing at the doorway to the kitchen. "I think we need to have a discussion." He says and they all turn and head back into the kitchen. My heart drops for a moment. What if he doesnt approve. What of he wants Kaley to be with an actual born vampire not somebody like me.

We head into the kitchen hand in hand and our parents are all sitting around the table. We go up and sit down across from them. "So, I hear that you two believe that you are mates." Kayden says. "We dont believe it. I know it." Kaley says. "I know that you think you know it but until Arc is of age you wont know for sure." Mom says. "But he drank my blood. And he is fine. Hes not feral. You all told me my whole life that a mates blood is the only blood that wont make you go feral." Kaley says starting to get upset. "Mom, you know how I feel about Arc. You are the one who would bring me here so that I could see him." She says.

"I hope that it is true. I did encourage you but the fact is that we dont know for sure." Cameron says. "Then how do you explain that hes not feral?" Kaley asks. "Arc is not a normal vampire. He wasnt born a full vampire. That may not apply to him. We dont know how he may differ." Dad says. And now I see that our parents dont want us together.

"What is this about? Why dont you guys want us to be together?" I ask and mom is the one who answers me. "Honey, I would love nothing more than the two of you being mates. But the fact is that you wont know for sure until you are sixteen. What would happen if you two mated and then when you turn sixteen you find your mate in somebody else?" She asks and I shake my head. "That would never happen. Things like that dont happen." I say.

"You think not? Have you ever heard the story of your mothers childhood?" Kayden asks. I look at mom. What is he getting at. "Yeah. She was a hybrid that lived with the vampires and when she was fifteen she went out and found her grandparents and learned about her abilities. She met dad and that's that." I say and all of our parents shake their heads. "That was just the fairytale story I would tell you guys when you were little." Mom says. And I look at her shocked.

"Your mom and Cameron were always friends. But me and your mother we were more than friends." Kayden says and I hear a small growl escape my dads lips. "What do you mean dad. You and mom have been together since you were sixteen." Kaley says. "No, I was almost seventeen. I knew since my sixteenth birthday though." Kayden says. "Me and Kayden were together since we were twelve years old. We were destined to be mates. We thought we were mates. Our wedding was planned and everything. There was a prophecy we were told we were mates and we would rule together. But the fact of the matter is that we werent mates. If we would have married and then I found your father it would have been a mess." Mom says and I'm shocked by this story.

"So your saying that you and Uncle Kayden were going to get married." I ask confused. They all nod except for my dad who is lowly growling. He always was possessive of mom. He cant even stand to hear about their past. "Wouldnt you have just split and been with your mates?" Kaley asks. "And what if I would have gotten pregnant during that time before I met my mate? I would have to choose between keeping my family together and being happy with my mate." Mom answers and she does have a point. What would I do if Kaley and I had a baby and then I found that I had a different mate?

I look at Kaley and I can see that she is think the same thing as me. "Ok, so then we wait. I mean it's only six months. We can plan the ceremony and everything in that time." Kaley says and I kiss her cheek. "Yeah. I mean we will need time to plan all that anyways." I agree and I can see the relief on our parents faces. "Perfect. So we will start preparing for the wedding." Cameron says smiling at mom.

"I have so many ideas. I have Bellatrix and Sirius weddings all planned to the tee since they were five. I always hoped I would have a part it Arcs too. I'm so happy." Mom says as her and Cameron get up and take Kaley away from me to start the preparations.

"You made the right choice." Kayden says. "Yes you did. I am proud of you." Dad replies and they both get up and head out of the kitchen leaving me sitting there. "Wow who would have thought that mom and Kayden were a thing. The girls arent going to believe it." I think to myself.

Come to think about it I havent had much time with my sisters the last two years. I was so angry all the time. I guess it's about time that I make it up to them.
