It took everything I had to walk away from the kingdom. Neo howled in my head as we left our mates behind. He tried to get me to go back, but I knew I couldn’t. I trudge through the woods towards Iron Mountain’s packhouse. At least I’ll be able to retrieve my Jeep.
There is a rustle in the trees and growling as three guards in wolf form approach me. I throw my hands up. “Hey, fellas,” I say to them. One of them steps towards me with his hackles up. “I’m Nathaniel Brody of Whispering Pines,” I tell him.
Another growl is heard as a large brown wolf runs up, and the three guards step aside. The brown wolf then shifts into Beta Henry. “Mr. Brody,” He nods.
“Yes,” I reply.
“I see you are alone,” He looks past me.
I press my lips together. “Yes,” I mumble and look at the ground.
