I followed my mother out of my room. I looked ahead as we headed back downstairs. My asshole father wanted to parade me around the kingdom with that asshole lion on my arm. We get to the bottom of the stairs, and King Leonidas stands beside my father. I take a deep breath and put on a neutral expression. My mother promised to get me out of here after the fanfare was over.
King Leonidas smiles broadly at me. “There is my beautiful bride,” He beams. I look away from him. He touches the side of my face, and I shudder. “Do you have anything to say to me?”
I gulp and take another deep breath. “I am sorry that I vomited on your King Leonidas.”
“Aw, call me Leo,” He leans down to me. “That is the name you will be screaming later.”
