27 Art Park Guy Haole Someone with a Caucasian complexion; to be Americanized; to assume airs of superiority; foreigner. As I walked up to Art Park guy, I checked him out. Everything about him was medium. He wasn’t tall or short, dark or pale, and his hair wasn’t down past his shoulders or in a military buzz. He was about five foot ten or so, local-looking on the far haole side of hapa, with wispy dark blond hair that poked out from under his baseball cap, curling a little this way and that. Cargo shorts, t-shirt—typical island attire, except for the tennis shoes and low socks. In a crowd, you’d mark him as a puka shell tour guide or maybe a volunteer soccer coach. He was too old to be a Summer Fun leader, although he had that vibe—early thirties Summer Fun Camp Director or Big Broth
