Chapter 17

Walker’s perspective “Hey where did Hunter go?” I said looking around. He had completely disappeared somehow. I had never seen him do that. Umberto looked over at me and then looked around. “He seemed on edge,” Umberto said. “I know,” I said uneasily as I looked around. I had known Behemet for a long time now, I had never seen him on edge like this, not even back when he encountered that duplicate of himself. Back then he looked like he was scared out of his mind. Maybe the only thing I could compare it to was when that lizard thing came out in the labors. “That’s right,” Umberto said suddenly. “I think he went with Sammie, I heard her say something about checking this other thing,” I remember hearing Sammie say something like that too. But a few moments before that I remember her saying something about trying to get the goo off Tanya. “Well I managed to get that goo off of her finally,” Sammie said suddenly. Umberto and I looked at her. “What?” Sammie asked. “Didn’t you go with Hunter?” I asked. “What do you mean?” Sammie said. Umberto and I looked at each other and saw that Tanya no longer had that slime covering her, and it looked like she had her hair wet. They must have spent easily 10 minutes trying to get the goo off her. “I heard you say something about checking…” I started. “Did she sound exactly like me?” Sammie asked “Yes,” Umberto said looking confused. “Damn it, Theresa!” Sammie said looking around. “Theresa?” Umberto and I asked confused. “As in the one that we were looking for?” Umberto asked. “Yes,” Sammie said looking around. “Did either of you see where they went?” “No,” we said. “I don’t get it, what the hell is going on?” Umberto said. “Theresa and I were made the same,” Sammie said. “You said that earlier,” I said. “What the hell does that mean?” Umberto said echoing my confusion. “Remember how we were all constructed similarly?” Sammie said. “Roughly,” Umberto said. “So, the way that we were constructed was that ONE, FIVE and SEVEN were constructed essentially the same, the same sort of body style, though in their case Oscar is a male Five and Seven are girls.” She said in an under breath. “Anyways, Theresa and I were made essentially the same.” “So in other words the two of you are like twins?” Umberto said. “Essentially,” Sammie said. “And you didn’t bother to tell us this because…” I asked. “I did say we were constructed in a similar fashion,” Sammie said. “None of us even knows what the hell that means,” Umberto said. “I thought I was very specific,” Sammie said. “You do realize, that you explained just now that you have essentially a twin sister that looks exactly like you, talks like you, and probably smells like you to Hunter, and we just now know about that.” I said kind of angrily. “The boy has a point,” Umberto said. Sammie looked a bit shocked. “But I did say…” Sammie started. “What in the hell?” I said angrily. “She doesn’t get it because it’s not part of her algorithms,” Umberto said. “Wait does Hunter know she’s an android?” I said suddenly, feeling myself calm down instantly. “Probably not,” Umberto said. “Your friend doesn’t seem to know much about technology.” “That is because of that backwards world he lived in,” I said sighing heavily. “So, what would Theresa want Hunter for?” “I don’t think it was her necessarily that wanted Hunter,” Sammie said after thinking about it for a minute. “Could she have aligned herself with the Storm Bringers?” I asked. Sammie thought of that for a bit and shook her head. “Why such a pause?” I asked. “I hadn’t seen her in a long time,” Sammie said. “So, you have no way to know if she would have joined the storm bringers or not?” Umberto asked. Sammie shook her head again. “So she could have taken him to the Storm Bringers?” “No, I don’t think she would’ve,” Sammie said. “Why not?” I asked “Because from what we know about the Storm Bringers, they don’t really have a use for him.” Sammie said. I however had a very bad feeling about this. Could it be that they knew that Behemet had that amulet? The Rasiea Ruh, the medallion of Souls. I was thinking of that scenario, heavily. Could they know he had it? “You know something don’t you?” Umberto suddenly said. “What?” I snapped out of my reverie. “You know about something that your friend hasn’t told us about,” Umberto said. I nervously looked at him, then at Sammie and then over at Tanya who looked pleadingly at me. “Hunter has something that the Star Builders made.” I sighed heavily. “Krishna!” Umberto said smacking his head suddenly. “Do you know what it is?” Sammie asked. “Kind of…” I said. “What’s with the hesitancy?” Umberto asked. “Because not even Hunter really knows what it is,” I said. “Then how do you know it was something that the Star Builders made?” Umberto asked c*****g his eyebrow. “Remember how he said we ran into this projection of Osiris and Anubis?” I said, and Umberto nodded. I had been within earshot when Behemet had decided to tell Umberto most of our tale until now. “Osiris, or his visage as he called it, told us the thing was called the Rasiea Ruh.” “The medallion of Lord Vishnu?!” Umberto said. “So, you know about it?” I said nervously. “Have you ever seen the drawings of Lord Vishnu?” Umberto asked, I stared at him blankly. “Oh, wait never mind, I forgot the Iron Hand does not like promoting that sort of myths as they’ve called it.” “Lord Vishnu is always depicted with this medallion around his neck,” Sammie explained when she saw me looking confused. “That medallion was called the Rasiea Ruh, it was thought that this was the way that Lord Vishnu would transfer his consciousness to a new avatar.” “Avatar?” I asked. “In the ancient texts an Avatar was a manifestation of a deity in a bodily form. In other words, an incarnation of one of the Devas.” Sammie explained. “That kind of goes with what Osiris told us,” I nodded. “Does anyone know he has it?” Umberto said. “No…” I said. “But?” Umberto asked. “The lizard,” I said almost terrified of the thought. “You mean the one who attacked his planet?” Umberto asked, and I nodded. “But the last time he saw that thing was back in his home planet, right?” “Yes,” I said. “But?” Umberto asked. I must have seemed hesitant about that or something which made him ask that question. “We encountered him on Rho,” I said but I quickly added. “He was one of the visions that were shown to us during those labors.” “So, someone else does know he has that medallion?” Umberto said. “Well, Hanuman does.” I said. I had this sneaky suspicion that Hanuman was the one who had somehow got involved all the sudden. “You just thought of a possibility?” Umberto said. “I think Hanuman has him.” I said. Everyone looked at me confused. “Why would Hanuman have him?” Umberto asked. “I don’t know,” I said. I was also double guessing that, but it was something that made sense. No one knew he had that medallion. Well, no one that we knew about that was not Hanuman and that Lizard. That lizard did not make sense, he was last seen 40 years ago in Behemet’s home planet, even if he had made it all the way to this planet, there was no way that the lizard would have known that Behemet had used that belt to change into Hunter. The only one that always seemed to know things was Hanuman. “Omniscience,” I remember Hanuman saying one of the times we had seen him. I wanted to explain this to Umberto and Sammie, but I thought otherwise. I knew that somehow Hanuman was trying help Behemet somehow.
