Chapter 10
She hadn’t meant for the words to fly out of her mouth the way they had. In fact, she was horrified as she sat at the long dinner table, Emmett beside her and Rhee on the other side of him, beside her mother, likely because he couldn’t stand to be around her either after her insensitive remark about Naomi and the wedding. She could feel Emmett staring down at her again as she played with the chicken on her plate instead of eating it. Chatter from everyone filled the room.
“You know, you could apologize,” he said in a low voice that pulled her gaze over to him.
“I will,” she said. “I’m just…sometimes I can’t believe the things that come out of my mouth. I didn’t mean it the way it sounded.” No, it had been a thoughtless comment, but she knew her sisters believed she was a crue
