A LITTLE BIT LATE

A girl was standing facing outside the window, tomorrow was a big day in her life but her face was stony, till today she still wondered if her parents ever looked for her even once she had so many questions but no answers Finally, she could meet her biological parents and siblings, although they were not rich, they couldn't be described as poor. At the age of six, she was picked from the orphanage and she could see the love they had for her, but all of it was a facade. Later, when she reached home, she saw a petite girl her age; she looked sick. "Anna this is your sister, she has a rare disease," Ms Williams said with her gentle voice. " God is on our side, so from today on, words you will provide her some of your blood so that she can also be normal like you," She told her, not even asking. That was Anna's life from the age of six; they didn't torture her, but didn't love her either. She was mostly ignored. She could provide Lilian with blood every month until they turned sixteen when she was cured. They studied in different schools; one was expensive, and then she studied in a government school. Over the years, she became independent, thus she always carried a serious face, compared to her supposed sister, who talked sweet nothing, she was the devil of the house. .... Finally, it was morning, but her room had no window, so she couldn't see the light. "Wake up and get ready" She heard her Mom calling. After taking forever, she peeled her sickly bones and came out of bed; she didn't sleep as she was overthinking her future. "Morning" She greeted "Mmm" came the reply; she never got a good morning from this family, so she was used to it. She went into the bathroom to freshen up and then went back to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. "I am hungry, is it ready?" Lilian asked with her raspy voice; she didn't even wash her face, but that was her. "In a minute," Anna said rushing before she got yelled at. " Well, you must be happy going back to where you belong," She heard and paused. Although she was adopted, at least she spent almost half of her life with them, but they never considered her a family member. It stung her, but she nodded her head. She couldn't bring herself to show them how it hurt her because she knew that they didn't care. Lilian scoffed when she saw that and continued, " I heard that they are from another province in a deep village." Sigh," I pity you, although I don't love, I don't hate you either, oh, pack everything that you want." Anna brought the food to the dining room and served her without saying anything. " She is right, after all, you stayed with us for twelve years, so feel free to take whatever you want as a repayment for the blood." Ms Williams chimed in and sat down starting to eat. "Take this money to help you further your studies " Mr Williams also came and joined his family. Anna saw it as a mockery, she dropped her head and went back to the kitchen to eat her breakfast. After cleaning the utensils, she went back to pack her clothes. It was not much, although she was 18 years old, now she could be mistaken as a sixteen-year-old. Her small room can't even shelter two people, so you can imagine. At 11 Am, a doorbell rang, and she went to answer. "Excuse me, is this Mr Williams's house?" an old lady with white hair asked. Anna was amazed by her clean look. The lady was simply a beauty. " Yes, come in, " She blinked her eyes and opened the door wide for the lady. The lady looked at her with gentle eyes and smiled " Are you Miss Anna? " She asked. "Yes but not miss you can call me Anna enough," She said when the lady spoke to her with respect. "No, miss, I can't call you that. By the way, my name is Matilda." She said with a bow. Anna was puzzled. What was wrong with this lady? She smiled, but before she could reply, a voice was heard. "You are most welcome, Miss," Ms. Williams greeted with a wide smile. "Good to see you, madam, thank you for taking care of our young lady" Matilda gave her a simple bow. Ms.Williams was shocked and checked out the lady in front, Rich, and that's not all, she behaved like a maid or nanny, something, what happened to the village and being poor? Lilian came to mock Anna, but her tongue was tied; the girl they looked down on was treated with such respect? God was not fair. " Good to see you, Miss." Mr. Williams also blushed; he felt ashamed of his earlier behavior. "Thank you, sir. If you don't mind, we would like to go early. I booked afternoon tickets. Matilda said and took out money from the briefcase she was holding. "And this is a small token to appreciate your kindness " "No, you don't have to..." Before he finished Ms. Williams grabbed the envelope. "Thank you, miss," she smiled while eyeing her husband. Matilda smirked at that and turned to Anna, who was only watching. She looked exactly like her former madam: black silk hair, a small face with sharp features, big green eyes, and milky skin. But what pained her was her sickly body she looked so younger than her age. "Miss, are you done packing?" Anna nodded and went to grab her things, she sighed when she turned back to her room. Will she miss this place? And what was the life awaiting her outside? She was interrupted by a sweet voice she had never heard " Sis, can I come with you?" Lilian asked with the sweetest voice she could master. "..." Anna, what has been going on since then? She didn't have anything to comment on that. Lilian, let your sister go. Hmm, I know you're sad, but let her first meet her parents, then you will visit, not so Anna?" Ms. Williams chimed in with her fake tears. Anna was lost for words, so she only nodded her head. Wow, giving them an Oscar was not enough. She last heard of the word sister when she first came into this house, and she last heard it again when leaving this place. She felt sad. She went out, and Miss Matilda took her bag, although she refused to in the end; she was not in the mood to fight with this cute lady. She looked around the house for the last time, and tears threatened to fall. Although they ignored her most of the time, she still cared for them and appreciated them for taking her in, even though she was adopted mainly for blood purposes, but still. Outside, a black Benz was waiting for them, which made Anna curious about her new family. After bidding farewell to her adopted family, a door was opened for her, and she entered. Tears threatened to rush out of her big eyes, but she held them; such people didn't deserve her precious tears. She saw them checking the envelope and jumped with excitement. Matilda saw this and passed her a handkerchief. " Thank you, but no need," Anna appreciated. "No need " She smiled with kindness. After moving a distance Anna broke the ice. " So how is my family? Do I have a mother? " She hesitated. Matilda was startled not expecting Anna to ask such questions. Her eyes were watery as she replied. "You have a father, plus you have a brother," she answered, ignoring Anna's eyes. Anna was quiet as she processed her words and panicked, " What about mother? I don't have one?" She felt lonely.
