POV: Eung Aey
I opened my eyes in an unfamiliar room, slowly supporting myself to get up from the bed and holding my head due to the heaviness.
I didn't know how I ended up here. Last night, I went drinking with friends to celebrate graduating and getting a scholarship to study abroad as exchange students with the whole gang.
"Cha-em, Meen, where are you?" I called for my friends. Why did these two bring me here instead of taking me home?
I slowly got up from the bed and walked around the room. It was empty as if no one was there.
"Ah!" My foot stepped on something. I quickly looked down and saw it was my bag, so I hurriedly picked it up.
"Where did Cha-em and Meen go? How could they leave me to sleep here alone?"
I took my phone out of my bag to call my friends, but I was shocked to see that they had called me hundreds of times from midnight until morning.
My heart started racing with fear. If my friends called this many times, it means they weren't here, right? Thinking that, I began to nervously scan the room again.
"W-where is this place? How did I get here? Who did I come with?"
Ring~ The phone rang, startling me so much that I almost dropped it. The caller was Cha-em, so I quickly answered.
(Eung Aey, where have you been? Do you know that Meen and I searched for you all night and barely slept? Your grandmother was also worried and stayed up waiting for you to come home.)
“I don’t know where I am. It feels like I’ve been kidnapped. I can’t remember anything,” I whispered as quietly as possible.
(What!! Kidnapped?) Cha-em exclaimed loudly in shock.
“I have to go now. I need to get out of here before anyone sees me. Please tell Grandma that I’m okay and I’m coming home."
There was no time to talk much. After hanging up, I quickly ran to open the door and dashed out of the hotel without thinking about anything else.
When I stopped at the street, I stood panting, drenched in sweat. I was really lucky. Without thinking much, I quickly hailed a taxi before anyone could see me. I was paranoid about everything.
While in the taxi, I tried to figure out how I ended up at that hotel, who took me there, and why. It wasn't to do anything bad, was it?
I instinctively covered my chest with my hands at the thought. My cherished purity, no!!
"Sir, please take me to the nearest hospital first," I told the taxi driver. I wanted to go to the hospital to get a check-up. I couldn't sleep until I knew for sure.
When I arrived at the hospital, I asked the doctor to thoroughly examine my body, very thoroughly. It was a relief when the results showed that I hadn't been sexually assaulted in any way.
Last night, I remembered dreaming of a handsome angel. His face was very handsome. He must have helped me escape danger for sure.
My Home
"The house we live in is a small rental. In this house, it’s just me, my grandmother, and my younger brother. Our parents passed away when my brother and I were still young.
"Grandma," I ran to hug her as soon as I saw her face. Cha-em and Meen were waiting for me at the house too.
"May the Lord protect you, my dear. I was so worried I couldn’t sleep."
"I’m sorry, Grandma. Last night I got drunk and went to bed without answering anyone’s calls, causing everyone to worry. From now on, I won’t drink alcohol anymore," I said this to avoid making her worry even more.
I took Grandma inside to rest, then went out to talk with my friends in front of the house.
"What happened? Where did you go?" Min asked.
"I don't remember anything. I woke up thinking you guys took me to a hotel room, but I didn't find anyone there."
"Or did you get...?"
"No, no. I went for a medical check-up and I'm still unharmed. But who kidnapped me like that? People these days are so scary."
"You're really lucky, Eung Aey. Did you see the news about the murder and r**e case?"
Em's words made my skin crawl, and I'm lucky to have survived. From now on, I need to be very careful.
"What if that creep is following you? You should report it."
"No, I don't want it to become a big issue. My body is fine, I wasn't harmed. Besides, next month we have to prepare to study abroad. I don't want any unresolved legal issues."
My friends and I aren't wealthy, but we're fortunate enough to have earned scholarships to study abroad. We're about to study there, so I don't want this to become a big issue. I'll make sure to be extra cautious from now on.
