Chapter 5

I slowly open my eyes and look around, I am in a private room, I struggle to focus at first, the light is bright and my eyes are weary. I can tell there is someone leaning over me from my right and as my eyes start to focus I notice how unbelievably handsome he is with jet black hair and hazel green eyes but at the same time feel fear at his proximity, my heart starts to race and as it does the beeping gets faster. Hearing this he looks at the machine then back at me and his expression changes and softens then he takes a couple of steps back, holds his hands up and says “it’s ok, don’t worry, I’m not going to hurt you.” I look around the room, see another man sat in a chair on my left, he has the same hair and eyes but looks older and they both have worried expressions. I can still smell the coffee and chocolate but can’t see where it’s coming from. I notice there is a window on the wall with blinds, it looks like it’s nighttime, to the left hand side of the wall opposite me there’s a door and another door on the wall to the right of me that looks like it’s the door to the room. I notice the machine on my right that is monitoring my heart and on my left there is a stand with a bag on it that has a tube running from it, I look back to Theo who I notice is very tall, taller than father I would say, he is well tanned and big built, and I ask, “w-where a-am I? H-how long h-have I b-been here?” “You are at the hospital on my pack lands, I am Theo Star Alpha of Twilight pack and this is my dad Hugo Star, I found you unconscious in Sacred oak woods and brought you here, you have been here for two weeks now” “I’ve been out for two weeks?” “Yes, you had us all really worried” I look down and realise my clothes have been changed, I have a cast on my arm, the tube from the bag is going into my other arm, there is something on my finger stopping me from moving it and I can feel something hard on my leg as well, confused I ask “w-what happened to me?” “That’s what we would like to know as well, but don’t worry these are for your old injuries that hadn’t healed properly, the doctor had to reset some of your bones that have been broken before, these are only on to help them heal” he says, gesturing to the cast on my arm. Just then the door opens and a woman walks in with another man, “this is my mum Grace and doctor Harland” Theo says, the doctor is a much older man, similar age to Theo’s parents, he has grey hair, dark green eyes and a short grey beard, he is also quite tall but not as tall as Theo and has a bit of a belly on him, Grace has the same skin tone as Theo, slim build and is a red head, she is not as tall as the others, not quite shoulder height with the doctor. I am surprised to see a woman allowed outside.

Doctor Harland approaches the bed, “hello young lady, Summer is it?” He asks “yes doctor” I reply.

“And what is your last name?” I think for a moment “I don’t have a last name” “what do you mean?” He asks “Everyone has a last name, it’s the same as your parents last name” “no, father was always just father and my mother died when I was 2, I don’t know her name” ok, how old are you Summer?” “I’m 17” “and when is your birthday?” “I don’t know, I have never had a birthday” I hear everyone gasp “never had a birthday?” “No, never” I don’t understand why everyone seems so shocked about this. “Do you know the name of the pack you are from?” “No, I didn’t even know I was a werewolf until Celestia started talking to me the night I escaped” “what do you mean escaped? Escaped from who?” “From father and my brothers, Celestia helped me get away from them” “and when was this? When did you escape?” “It was about 3 days before Theo found me” “have you been taken to hospital before or seen a doctor?” No, never, I have never seen anyone before, th-this is the first time I have met anyone new” “oh my goddess, the poor child” I hear grace say, “ok” says the doctor “I’m just going to do some checks now, nothing to worry about, ok?” He asks, “yes, ok” I say.

He does his checks and asks if I am in any pain and I tell him that I just have a bit of soreness in my arm and leg. He explains about what happened while I was unconscious and what treatment I have had, then says that he will get the nurse to take some blood for tests and says he will come and see me again later when he has the results then leaves the room. The nurse comes in, she is an older woman curly white hair, pale complexion and is a little heavy set, and says “hi I am senior nurse Martha, I’m just going to take a little blood” “ok” I say, when she is finished she asks if I would like something to eat and drink, “yes, please, if there is something left” and everyone looks at me in surprise and Martha says “what do you mean, dear?” I explain that all I am ever allowed is leftovers and tap water and everyone gasps then Theo says “no wonder she was so weak and underweight” and Martha says “it’s not like that here dear, you can have as much food as you want, no restrictions, what would you like to eat?” I look at her not sure what to say, I have never been asked before, “I-I’m n-not sure” “it’s ok, I will fix something for you” she says. After she leaves everyone is just standing there like they don’t know what to say or do then Theo breaks the silence and asks if it was my father who caused my injuries, “most of them” I say “but some where my brothers” “do you know their names?” He asks “yes, the older one is Lucifer Junior, but everyone calls him LJ and the other one is Lucian” “ok, I just need to make a phone call, I will be back in a minute” he says and gives me a little smile then leaves the room. “What, where’s he going? Who’s he calling?” I start to panic, “what if he is calling father, he will know where I am and come for me, I can’t go back there” my heart starts racing again, the beeping is getting faster and I start struggling to breathe, Grace rushes over to me and I hear her say, “go get help” then she is talking to me trying to calm me down, telling me that it’s okay, that father won’t find me here and they would never let him take me. Then people start rushing into the room and I hear someone say she is having a panic attack I will give her something to calm her down and relax her a little.
