Chapter 4

2 Weeks later

My luna still hasn’t woken up, I have not left her side at all in the last 2 weeks. I just sit here holding her hand and talking to her. Mum, Dad, Kyle, Louis, Sofia and Leah visit daily ensuring I have coffee, food and clean clothes and mum, Sofia and Leah have been helping take care of my Luna, brushing her hair, giving her bed baths and changing her clothes, they have even given her manicures and pedicures.

Doctor Harland has said that her vitamin and iron level’s are looking good although she is still on some supplements and the infection has cleared up, the wounds on her feet have healed and her bruises are fading, She was taken into surgery a week ago to reset some of her bones and now has a splint on her left middle finger and casts on her right arm and left shin while they heal. All we can do now is wait for her to wake up.

I have had the bedroom opposite mine prepared for her, so she has her own space while she adjusts to her new life here and she has a closet full of new clothes and shoes waiting for her that Sofia and Leah have picked out.

Kyle and Louis are still trying to find information about her, they traced the names in the clothing to the Shadow pack, Alpha Seth Douglas said he has a pack member Lucifer Terrarage who lives by the woods on the outskirts of the pack with his two sons Lucifer Junior and Lucian but has no daughter or other female relative, the alpha has said that he doesn’t recognise the girl in the photo but will ask around his pack and contact us if anyone knows her, there has been no other leads so far.

Later that evening I am sat holding my Lunas hand, my parents have just left and it is just the two of us in the room, I am telling her how beautiful she is, how I am so happy to have found her and looking forward to her waking up so we can start our lives together and how I will always love and protect her and promise that nobody will ever hurt her again when I feel movement like she is trying to squeeze my hand a little, I look up and see movement under her eye lids. Excitedly I stand up, rush to the door and shout over to the nurses station “get the doctor, she’s waking up” then go back and take her hand again “can you hear me my luna? Squeeze my hand if you can hear me please” I wait a moment and feel a slight squeeze again and butterflies fill my stomach.

Summers POV

I can hear a man’s voice talking, it sounds like he’s talking to me but he can’t be although I don’t hear anyone else, I don’t recognise his voice and he sounds gentle and caring but desperate, I can also smell coffee and chocolate, it smells so delicious.I try to remember where I am, it feels like I am in a bed but not my bed, this bed is more comfortable. The last thing I remember is being in the woods and those men, then trying to run and hide and then nothing.

I hear the man’s voice say Luna, who’s Luna? I wonder, I him say squeeze my hand if you can hear me? I can feel a hand holding mine and realise he must be talking to me, I try to respond with all my might and manage to squeeze a little then hear what sounds like a sigh of relief but surely it can’t be nobody cares about me that much or at all, who even is this man? “He is our mate” says Celestia, our mate? What do you mean? I ask “Yes our mate, every wolf has a fated mate, someone chosen especially for us by the moon goddess, to love, cherish and protect us for the rest of our lives” before I can respond I hear another male voice say “Alpha, what is happening?” Alpha? Is that his name? “No it is his title, he is alpha of the pack and we will be his Luna” I hear Alpha say “She squeezed my hand and moved her eyes” “well that does sound promising” the new voice says then I feel someone lift my eyelid and shine a light into my eye and do the same to the other eye, then I feel fingers on my wrist and realise this must be a doctor, I’ve never seen a doctor before, I can also hear a beeping noise nearby, maybe I’m in a hospital, this really is a first, but how did I get here? I don’t remember “mate brought us here, he found us in the woods.” He did? But why does he care? I’m nobody! I don’t matter to anyone! “You do to mate, he cares about you, he wants you to be safe and healthy” but why? “Because you are his mate and because he is a good person, I can feel it, just please trust me and everything will be okay I promise” ok I will try.

I continue listening, “she is starting to wake up now Alpha and will open her eyes when she is ready” “Thank the goddess, that’s amazing, thank you doctor” He sounds so relieved, maybe Celestia is right but how can we be truly sure? What if he changes? “Be prepared though alpha, don’t forget that we are strangers to her and she is in unfamiliar surroundings especially considering she has obviously been through something traumatic, we still don’t know where she came from or what happened to her but judging by her injuries and scars it was likely going on a long time so she will need time to adjust it likely won’t be the immediate happy bonding you always dreamed of” “Yes I know Doc, I will keep that in mind and she can take all the time she needs to settle in and adjust, I have already had a room prepared for her so she will have her own space until she is ready” “Very good Alpha, I will come back later to check on her and the nurses are close by if she needs anything” “Thank you Doctor”.

I feel him holding my hand again he seems to like doing that, then I drift back off.

A little while later I here voices again, Alpha is talking to someone, and I hear a woman’s voice then another man’s voice, I hear Alpha telling them that I am starting to wake up, “That’s great son” I hear the woman say, oh these must be his parents I think to myself, “Amazing news, Theo” the man says” so Alphas name is Theo, I like that name, it sounds nice, they start talking about what life will be like with a young luna, like they’re sure I would be a good Luna but I don’t even know how to be Luna, I’m not even sure it’s what I want. I hear Alpha’s mum say “I wonder what her name is?” “I bet it’s as beautiful as she is” Alpha says.

“S-S-su-mmm-er” I try to say, I hear chairs move then Theo sounding closer like he’s stood leaning over me, he places a hand gently on my head and says “what was that my Luna?” “M-my N-na-me i-is S-sum-mer” “Summer, that is a beautiful name! He says. “I will fetch the doctor and let everyone know” his mum says then I hear her leave the room.
