'pitter patter pitter patter'
The calming rhythm of the rain was the last thing the young woman heard as she lay on the soaked ground bleeding out. Her kidnappers used the cover of the storm to get rid of her after she helped the other young kids escape.
Ambrose was an Angel. She grew up in an orphanage and basically helped raise the other kids and even after growing up she still donated and made time for them. She got a scholarship for a prestigious university and the second highest GPA at only 19 years old. She worked part time at a bakery, department store, and as a receptionist during the holidays, and interned at a Vet office in her senior year.
Beyond that she was a timid girl. She was shy but friendly and hated bullies or any type of injustice that happened in front of her. That's how she got kidn*pped, helping a young girl who had just got off the school bus that was being followed by a black van. She saved the girl and was able to get the license plate written down and given to the girl before she was taken.
She didn't regret any of the choices that she had made in her life, but she wishes she'd gotten to fall in love. One of her biggest dreams is to have a big family with lots of love. She had dated but they either mutually didn't work out or were d**k heads. She was pretty oblivious to subtle hints, flirting, and skin ship/ physical affection, in respect to them being signs of someone liking you unless pointed out by someone else. But that didn't stop her from loving hard and fiercely. She was very open minded and supported all different type of love from everyone and anyone who'd be willing to give it.
This selfless, lovely, hardworking, lonely young woman lay content as she bled out in nature to her favorite weather, the children free, and her captors about to be apprehended. She was ready. As she watched the clouds become darker as a storm raged on, she could just make out the image of a beautiful man in the sky reaching down towards her with his face covered in sorrow and regret. She didn't notice when she stopped breathing, just the thought of wanting to cheer this man up.
'A man as beautiful as he, should always smile and be happy. I wish I could make him smile.' This was her last thought before she died. Alone. Content. Numb. And Regretful.
These thoughts and feelings made the being watching this lovely spirit even more distraught. He knew she didn't deserve this and he was determined to help her grant her wish. With her last breath taken, he swooped down and gently carried her soul with him. He'd fight to keep her safe and make sure she got everything she wanted, but never asked for.
In a field of flowers lay this young woman, while he watched over her until she woke. When she did, she was confused. Didn't she die?
"Yes Sweet child, you are," a husky European accented voice told her gently.
She was startled and sat up, but she realized that she didn't feel afraid. Gently opening her eyes, she was met with a gorgeous field of flowers of every kind for miles, she gasped. The man watched her reaction of genuine awe cross her face and gently smiled. He gave her a moment to get her bearings before he too stood up and walked towards her.
"May I know who you are sir?" She asked once she remembered the voice that spoke to her. As he got closer, she realized that he seemed familiar and instantly became curious.
"My name is Gabriel fair lady," he told her and gave her a dazzling smile and fluttering his wings in the wind.
"Ah~ Forgive me," She hastily bowed once she heard his name in respect. However he intercepted her, anticipating her actions, hugging her. She jumped not expecting it but warmly embraced him back, she's always been a hugger.
"It's lovely to meet you, Everyone calls me Ambrose," She knew he knew her, but thought it was only polite to return a formal greeting.
"Your Birth name was Angelina Celeste Lamon nicknamed Ambrose, " He smiled at her and told her sincerely knowing she's always wanted to know.
"That's pretty," She gave him a shy smile and her eyes brightened.
"Shall we? There's much to discuss," he offered his arm and a warm smile. She nodded and gently grabbed his arm before they began to float.
It gave her a fright, looking behind her she noticed big white wings that were gently moving to match Gabriel's movements. He watched her with adoring eyes, there was genuine wonder and joy in her expression that matched her eyes. Once they landed by a beautiful cottage, she was finally able to look into a mirror and was shocked. She looked like herself, but healthier, she had wings and wore an all white dress, wore a flower crown, and had white wings.
"I thought it was only fitting that your outfit matched your personality, Angelic" he told her as he gently grabbed her hand and brought her over to her seat in front of his table covered in snacks and tea. "Now, Let's Chat."
Once she sat down, it suddenly hit her all at once, "I'm dead. Are those kids alright? Did those horrible men get caught? Will everyone at the orphanage be alright without me?"
Gabriel poured her some tea and gently pat her hand, "Those sorry excuse for men were caught, the children are okay and back home with their families, and the orphanage received your reward for catching them along with your savings like you wanted. Calm down little one."
"Thank you," she sipped her tea and instantly relaxed. He explained everything she wanted, needed, and didn't know she wanted/needed to hear. She was happy, frustrated, disappointed, and content afterwards.
He sat down his tea and snacks before giving her his undivided attention, "Now, I brought you here because I can give you another chance at life. But it'd be on missions for a company we work with that deals with the multiverse."
"What would I have to do?" She hesitated but her curiousity won.
"You'd be put there to change some peoples fate and make the world better. However the most important thing for you to remember is.... to live," he told her after he saw her nod during his pause with fond eyes. "I'd love for you to have your dream of a big family and to be loved, the worlds and versions of it aren't all pleasant, some you even know about, some you don't, but it's all about what you do with your life."
She was shocked and hopeful, but had to know, "Why me?"
"Ever since you were born you've had one of the purest souls I've encountered, it isn't only me either, and you've maintained it no matter what was thrown your way and survived. Now Live," It took her a minute to fully comprehend what he said, but her eyes watered and she stood up to tackle him in a hug.
"Thank you."
"Now I know there are plenty of people who are dying to meet you," He told her playfully before going towards the back door of the cottage.
When he opened it, there were swirls of colors that greeted them. She wasn't afraid though, Gabriel had been nothing but kind to her despite the sharp contours of his face and the darkness of his eyes- they were gentle and spoke of a fondness of her. Once they stepped through the portal, they walked straight into a lobby of a high rise building, there were a perfect mix of Gold, White, Blue, and Blacks. The person behind the reception smiled brightly when she saw them and cheerfully ushered them to the elevator making Gabriel chuckle. Even though Ambrose- no Angelina was confused she still smiled back politely trying to match the girl angel's enthusiasm.
"I told you there are some people who are very excited to meet you," he reminded her as they stepped into the elevator that already had the ballroom button lit up.
"I wasn't sure what to think until I saw it for myself I suppose, I hope everyone is nice enough. Do you think they'd like me? Honestly," Gabriel grabbed her hand and gently kissed her knuckles in a reassuring gesture.
"They Love you," He told her just as the door opened and immediately there was light music and the sound of excited chatter.
"You're here!"
"Glad you made it in one piece."
"Let them go in, they shouldn't stand in the doorway."
"I'm sorry you had to die like that, but I'm glad your suffering is over."
"I set up the Mirror ball and the Screen."
Gabriel watched them amusedly and guided her to the throne like seat they set up for her by the mirror ball. She gave them enthusiastic smiles and finally couldn't contain her excitement and skipped to hug them all. Not expecting the hug from the sweet girl, they all gently returned the embrace and had even more fondness in their gazes.
Once they had her in her seat, that she tried to give up to the other angels but they firmly refused, they started up the Mirror Ball.
"I'm sure Gabe told you why we're here," Rose told her smiling widely and she returned it and nodded.
"It's actually a company we all started after we kept hearing about reincarnation, which does exist, and the idea of systems," Latoya told her with a drink in hand.
"Then we really paid attention to some worlds and versions of different universes. To put it bluntly, they suck." Lucifer added to her statement in his own red throne like seat.
"So we sought out different people, creatures, species, and anyone else putting them in different places to see what they do with their new life. Only a select few meet us and those who don't are directly transferred over. And even fewer are chosen to universe hop," Lucas told her. He was casually seated with his feet up and folded in his seat.
"However we want you to live a full life in each of these places. You will experience Love, Loss, Betrayal, Trust, Change, and more, but we chose you because we know that you can do this and not change your spirit," Liane told her. She had her full attention and spoke sternly with hints of concern in her tone.
"I understand, I'm more fortunate than most in my situation and I've decided a long time ago to see the best things in life, it's way too easy to be negative", Angelina told them softly but determined making them all look at her in awe.
"Alright Darling, Which World would you like to be in first?" Gabriel asked her as they all inputted the World's that needed help, could use change, didn't make sense to the Angels, and fit her personality.
Looking at all of the Worlds and seeing how many were consistent with some movies and shows she's heard of or binged made her excited, but the unfamiliar ones also sparked her curiousity. She looked through as many as possible before deciding to start with something she knows needed to be changed and had room for improvement. She picked it out on the Mirror Ball so everyone could see her choice and everyone nodded understandably.
"I want to help them experience a childhood in between having to worry about saving the world messed up by adults who claimed they couldn't change anything before yet rely on a kid, a lost kid who got lucky and unlucky being the Chosen One." Angelina explained her choice even though she saw no one judging her choice, she felt like she owed them that.
"We will give you gifts in each world and the order is random, but it'll never be bad then worse, we'll never do that to you. However, you will see things that will give you more trauma, just remember that no matter what keep being you." Liane reminded her.
"You'll be seeing us, we want to keep you close," Latoya smirked at the other Angels, who looked at Each other knowingly.
[They decided to be her parents or relatives in her life. They wanted to watch over her and get to be apart of her life, she was Genuinely Special, her smile was Contagious, and She woke up everyday no matter what and chose Good and Kindness.]
"We will give you general knowledge of world's you don't know and advantages to help you adapt. The rest is up to you Darling," Lucas told her with his easy smile.
She stood up and faced all of the Angels and bowed, " I just want to say Thank you, Sincerely. You all are doing so much for me and I can't really say I remember anyone in my life who has ever shown as much empathy and given me as much hope and was willing to help me to have my dream. It's really the only thing I've ever wanted to be loved for being myself and having a big family, so Thank you." She didn't realize until she heard her voice waver, that she was crying, but she meant every word she said to them.
Angels aren't particularly feeling creatures after they ascend or descend, but this young woman made them ALL cry, even Lucifer the Devil himself. They all stood up and embraced her until everyone composed themselves.
"You are a Gift and we'll never let you forget that," Gabriel told her as they pulled away. "It's time."
They led her to the screen that opened up as a door with a portal, they each kissed her forehead and gave her a goodbye hug until they met again. Angelina walked to the portal and gave them her biggest and brightest smile before stepping into the portal ready to face her future in Hogwarts along with Harry Potter.
