Chapter 73

Desiree's POV

“You wanted the powerful Luna? I am going to give you the powerful Luna of Crescent Lake. You see your plan did not work. I burned the bodies of nineteen rogues that were killed when you sent them to kidnap me. I have your rogue leader, Edith, Edwina and their mate the designer in the cells with signed and videoed testimony of the situation. But you know what else I have; my biological and adopted mothers at our pack hospital were injured by the bomb blasts set by your rogues. I have two women in a coma because they wanted to be there when their daughter found her dress for her Luna ceremony. I have a heavy heart every time I see my adopted mom, not knowing if she will survive her injuries, because there is fluid on her brain from the concussion as she was thrown against a wall from the blast. I have rage in my soul towards the man who instigated this whole thing because he wanted something that was not his to have” I have him suspended in the air, I use my wind power and squeeze him with every statement

“Desiree, I didn’t know…” he whispers

He is now having trouble breathing as my powers are constricting and tightening around him

“Didn’t know what? That sending your rogues to kidnap me was wrong. That harm to a current, future or past Luna is a death sentence. That I or someone else could have gotten hurt during your little attempt. That you would be bringing war to the Eclipsed Moon pack from a pack that is twice as big and much stronger than you. That even if your plan worked, and you kidnapped me, you just pissed off one of the most powerful hybrids living, the same one that killed your cousin. Some Alpha you are. You didn’t think any of this through. Your actions are selfish, and I may lose my mother because of you. I hate you Teddy Turner” I continue squeezing until he screams in pain

I stop squeezing him, and he falls to the ground. I focus on the blood in his brain and cause swelling to occur. Not enough to kill him but to cause massive pain and trauma. Teddy screams, holding his head, the whites of his eyes are red from busted blood vessels.

"Desiree Please STOP" he begs

I let him go and Leti drops the forcefield and no one steps to help their Alpha. The twins and all our mates run to us for support. Beta Cole and Gamma Simon move behind their alpha but do not help him.

“Alpha Teddy Turner, you have two options. One, you can go with Elder Edwards of the council for punishment and Beta Cole will take over the pack. Two, I will challenge you and kill you”

“You can’t challenge me” he growls

“You guys really need to refresh yourself on werewolf law. By law any ranked member can challenge another ranked member. The title of Luna makes me ranked. Besides, I am a daughter of an Alpha. Now choose.” I demand

He stands up and turns to his Beta and Gamma. They are discussing his options. The discussion gets more and more animated. Though they are whispering, let’s be honest, they are among werewolves, and we all know what they are saying. We hear Cole yell ‘you are being stupid’ and Simon yell 'you are a f*****g i***t and going to die' then they stop talking.

“Alpha Teddy before you choose. I will have to agree with your Beta and Gamma. Even if I don’t use my powers, this will not be an easy win for you. I would also like to make it known that the only reason I am giving you a choice is for relations with the council. I want to kill you and make it hurt. Taking time to question you required so much restraint on my part. All I want to do is SNAP your neck right now, like a f*****g twig. And, if either of my mom’s die, just know there is not a corner of this earth you could hide in where I would not find you and burn you from the inside out”

“What would my punishment be?” he asked the Elder

“At this time imprisonment. We can’t say how long or if death will still not occur. This would be based on the results of the victim’s recovery”

“f**k THIS! I am an Alpha, and I am not going to bow to some wanna-be Luna. You are below me. I accept your challenge” he yells

I feel an arm snake around my waist. I look back into the mesmerizing brown eyes of my mate. He knew I would allow Teddy an out and a challenge, maybe an option. He wants me to let him fight him instead of me. I know he does not question my ability to destroy this man, but he is my mate, and he does not want to see me hurt.

“Please baby” he pleads

“Anthony, I can beat him” I exclaim

“I know baby. I don’t doubt you, but I don’t want you to get hurt”

“You promise?” I ask him, tearing up

“I promise!” he says with conviction

“Elder Edwards per werewolf law, Section 15 part 3. I Luna Desiree Stone, choose Alpha Anthony Stone to compete in the challenge in my stead”

“You can’t do that!!!” Alpha Teddy yells

“Yes, she can. You all really do need to brush up on your werewolf law” Elder Edwards exclaims

“I accept the challenge for my Luna” Anthony says, his arm still around my waist. I grab his arm and squeeze with his declaration

“Per rules of challenge, this is a fight to the death or the first to concede. You can fight in both human and werewolf forms, switching throughout the fight. Any cheating or assistance will result in a forfeit by the accused. Are there any questions? Alpha Teddy Turner, Alpha Anthony Stone please take your positions”

I turn in Anthony’s arms and lean my head on his chest. I feel Antoine come up behind me, and I am squeezed between them. I then feel our friends and family encircle us and put hands on Anthony’s shoulders.

“May The Goddess bless you with victory in your quest” I hear David say and they all repeat

“Good luck bro! We will celebrate your victory with a drink and time with our Luna, when you are done” Antoine says and they all back away

“Anthony Richard Stone, if you die I will kill you. Do you understand?” I say sternly

“Yes ma’am” he says with a smile

"You promised not to die. Remember?"

"Yes I do"

“I love you!!” I say dropping a tear

“I love you too! I’ll see you soon!” he says kissing me

We break our kiss, and he walks to the center of the open area, opposite Alpha Teddy Turner
