Chapter 56

Desiree’s POV

We sleep in late the next day since there is no training. We have breakfast together in our room since we will be spending most of the day with the pack. The rides and inflatables will be here around 10am, the food and DJ should arrive around 1pm, with the event starting at 2pm with the announcement. At 9am I am to meet Leticia and Sharon in Luna Belinda’s office. When I walk in, the room is empty. The desk, couches, chairs and tables are gone. Only the books in the built-in remain. The Luna is there with my cousins and two women.

“What happened in here?” I ask as I enter the room

“This office will be yours soon. I know you guys don’t plan to take over for a couple of months, but I want you to be able to decorate it, and it will be ready for you when you have your ceremony”, Luna Belinda says

“But that’s not for months” I reply

“Your taste is not the same as mine. I love your personality, and we get along great, but I am not you and this room is now yours, so it has to feel like you. It can take a couple of months to redesign a room” she replies

“This is Edith and Edwina. They are pack members and interior designers. They will help you design this room and your individual suites. The structure is there, and you all need to see it before picking up stuff. They have put together idea books and samples for you to review. Then we will meet next week to go over options” Luna Belinda says

“We have put all the books in the library with your names on them. We tried to make the selections self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, please contact us. Our information is on our cards in the books” Edwina says

“Thank you, ladies. We appreciate your help and time putting this all together” I say

We then head outside with our individual assignments and checklist for the day. Sharon organized everything. I love that I can tell her my ideas and she can put it all together. We organized the arrival and set up all the entertainment, food and supplies. We have given all the volunteers their assignments, and now we are headed back to our rooms to shower and change. I take off my dress and shoes and go take a quick shower. I came out to the twins getting ready and running in the shower behind me. We get dressed and all meet in the alphas office to walk to the stage together. Claudia and Kane also came today, along with Ashley and Lawrence. The whole pack has gathered for the announcement

“Welcome Crescent Lake pack. We have invited everyone here for a special announcement and festivities. As many of you are aware, your future ranked members have found their mates. We will be having the official Alpha and Luna ceremony at the beginning of the year, but will be making them official pack members and announcing their positions today. Along with this, our new members, along with Luna Belinda, has organized this festival for the pack, with a pack run to commence when the moon is at its peak. So, first the induction of our new pack members.”

We step forward, and Luna Belinda gives him a dagger. He cuts our palms and his and holds our hand with the blood to mix

“Do you Desiree Maxwell, Sharon Maxwell and Leticia Maxwell pledge loyalty to the Crescent Lake Pack? Do you promise to put the pack and all its members before yourself? Do you swear to value the life of your Alpha and Luna and trust their leadership and guidance of this pack?”

“I do” we say in unison

“Now without further ado, I would like to first introduce you to your future gamma couple, David and Sharon Hernandez. Next is your future Beta couple, Wesley and Leticia Taylor. Finally, your future Alpha’s and Luna, Antoine and Anthony and Desiree Stone. Let’s welcome them all” Alpha Trevor says, and the crowd start to applaud and howl

“I would like to invoke a formal challenge for the title of Luna and to be mates to the twin Alphas of Crescent Lake” exclaims Sadie

The crowd begins to gasp and mumble regarding her formal challenge. I am tired and over all of this. Why is she even here? I use my powers and freeze time. I then chant the spell that releases the current and future ranked members from being frozen in time

“What the f**k is going on”? Anthony yells

“What happened to the pack”? Alpha Trevor says alarmed

“I froze everyone. I can freeze and manipulate time. They are fine”, I tell him

“Can you two tell me why the f**k is she still in this pack?”

“We didn’t want to kick her out last night”, Antoine says

“Why?”

“It was late, and we didn’t want to be responsible if something happened” he says

“Number one, these girls party all the time, so traveling around late at night is not an issue for them. Number two, if you were the gentlemen who did not want your ex-whores to have to drive in the dark after finding her naked in our bed, why didn’t you ensure she was escorted off the grounds this morning. And three, you told me you handled it, so why the hell am I now being faced with another challenge” I yelled

“We’re sorry Desi, we didn’t think she would do this. We were worried about her traveling at night, but after what she did, that should not have been our concern. And we did tell her that she would never be our Luna and that we didn’t like her. We’re sorry you are in this situation again” Anthony says

“She was naked in your bed. And Desi didn’t kill her?” Yvonne asks

“She’s an Alpha’s daughter, so I did not beat the s**t out of her last night. I thought my mates would handle the situation, call her father and send her home. Now she is invoking a formal challenge. I won’t kill her, but you had better call all their parents, because after I’m done they are leaving. I will let you handle your alliance and agreement with their packs, but I don’t want them on Crescent Lake territory again. I need you guys to stand up to these women because I’m tired of fighting for your love” I say and unfreeze everyone. I walk to the microphone

“Sadie, can we hear your reasons for invoking the challenge” I say

“You are a human and not fit to be the Luna of such a great pack. And the goddess made a mistake pairing you with the twins because they are out of your league, you have not been raised in our society and know nothing about leading a pack” she states

The crowd gasps, then growls and boos to her statement.

“Well, first you can’t challenge for the role of luna and mate once the person has been mated and marked. This is according to werewolf law. Since you are so much better than me and more aware of what it takes to lead a pack than I, you should know this. So, since the twins and I have mated and marked, you can’t challenge me for my position. Now if you are just upset and want to get your ass beat, I am more than happy to oblige after your actions the last couple of days”, I state

“Who the f**k do you think you are? You are nothing and can’t beat me. If I kill you, then I automatically become their mate and Luna”

“No, you are only given that title if chosen, or you challenge me prior to mating and marking. If you kill me now, formal challenge or not, they will still have to choose you. So, do you still want to fight? Are you sure they will choose you after you kill me? And if so, is it to the death?” I ask

“They will choose me. So, yes, I want to fight you to the death” she exclaims

“Sadie, what are you doing? If you kill our mate, we will never take you as a chosen mate and Luna. Think about this before you proceed” Antoine yells

“I will be your mate and Luna” she yells

I go into the packhouse and change my clothes, put up my hair and have Leti wrap my hands. I remind the boys to call her family. I will fight to subdue her, but if she tries to kill me, we will end her. We go to the viewing grounds and pack members take a seat along with ranked members in their designated areas. Like last time my cousins were with me

“Celestia, you ready?”

“Of course, I am. This b***h is crazy if she thinks she is taking my mates”

We enter the grounds and take a defensive stance. Sadie looks surprised when I come out with my clothes changed and ready to fight. She still thinks I am a human. The fact that I am agreeing to this has got her questioning. She was still wearing her shorts, midriff top and wedge sandals when she came to the announcement. Alpha Trevor goes over the rules of a formal challenge, and again we have no shifting. If Sadie shifts, I can use any means at my disposal. We both agree with the rules. She runs towards me with her right hand up to punch me. I move and put my foot out, tripping her. She lands in the dirt but jumps up quickly. She wipes herself off and comes at me again; I block and punch her in the face, she stumbles to the right and I punch her in the ribs. She gains her bearings and screams; coming at me again, she tackles me to the ground, but before she can hit me, I bend my legs and throw her off me. Now she is lying in a heap on the ground. I go to make sure she is still breathing.

“Alpha Trevor, she is still breathing, but this is not a fair fight. I don’t want to kill her. Can someone come down and talk to her” I say

“I agree with Desiree, we will be right there” he replies

I mind link the twins that they better not be the ones to come down here. They both promise me they won’t, and Luna Belinda comes down with water and to talk to Sadie. I take my water and go stand with Sharon and Leticia. Her friends are now trying to wake her up. She is moving by the time Luna Belinda gets to her. She takes the water and then the Luna gives her a phone. We can’t hear what is said on the other side, but we hear her scream “But Daddy” about three times. She then stands up and concedes the fight. The girls and I walk to the ranked member section

“Sadie, you and your friends will be escorted to your rooms to pack and then escorted off Crescent Lake territory. You are no longer welcome in this pack” Anthony says to them

“Alpha Anthony, I formally request permission to stay in your pack. To be honest, I am embarrassed to return to Bright Moon currently” Elizabeth states

“I understand Elizabeth, but after this situation I don’t feel it is in the best interest of either yourself or my pack for you to stay here. I will not put my Gamma or his mate in an uncomfortable situation based on your bad decisions. I am willing to talk to other packs to take you in, if you desire, but I recommend you go home and talk to your Alpha” he replies

“Yes, Alpha Anthony. Thank you, and we will be leaving now” she says with a bow

Terri and Elizabeth help Sadie up, and they take her to the packhouse to pack and leave

“There are also some other issues and rumors we need to address to all of Crescent Lake. Desiree is our mate; this is the second time she has been challenged for her position, and it will be the last. We will not be with anyone besides her. Now we know prior to meeting her we have been with shewolves in this and other packs, we are here to tell you now it was only s*x and if you think our past encounters will lead to you being our mate and luna, it’s not going to happen. There is only one woman who will own that title and if not her, then no one. Also, Brenda Cross has told people that she is pregnant with our child. We admit to having s*x with Brenda but will not accept the child until paternity testing is done. If the child is ours, we will care for that child, but that does not give Brenda special status. She will not be moving into the pack house, she will not be our mate, she will not be our luna, she will not be anything in this pack but the omega she currently is. Is this understood? I hope this answers all the rumors and we and we can now move on. Thank you, Crescent Lake pack, for your time and attention. Now let’s go have some fun”

Cheers and howls fill the grounds and we all head to the festival. I go to change my clothes and enjoy the day with my mates and friends. We have delicious food and play games. I make the boys win prizes for the kids from the orphanage and make sure they all get a turn on the rides. We dance to baby shark with the little kids and cupid shuffle with the older kids. Everyone had a wonderful time.
