Chapter One: Confuse soul
"Being single and lonely is better than being someone else's plaything."
~My tee series
-Ali Hean Point of View-
"Sir, are you okay?" Doctors and nurses came rushing towards me.
"I'm okay, but why am I here?" I whispered, asking them for something that confused me.
"Sir, you were unconscious when people found you". "We really don't know what happened before that," said the nurse while examining me.
"Sir, can you tell me the name of this object?" A man in a white coat pointed at a pen in his hand.
He looks so serious that makes me ...
"A pen".
"You're holding a pen'. I answered and with that the people around me seemed relieved.
"OK, that's good". "Can I ask a question again?" from having a relieved facade, the serious tone of his voice mimicked his face once again.
I nodded.
"Can you remember your name?" another question was fired by the doctor. It took me some time to answer, but even a tiny frail voice didn't come out of my lips, and it hit me hard. The attending doctor and the nurses looked at each other like they already knew the exact thing that was happening.
"I don't remember a thing". "I don't know my name or even a tiny fragment of who I am", I groaned, uttering words with visible confusion.
"Everything's gonna be okay, sir."
"You need to rest now".
"Your fine and your vital signs are okay but I suggest you stay here for the mean time to monitor you and for further examination. "
"Thanks doctor." I responded and set off at the doctor with a glance as he exited the door.
I lay down to ease the arising emptiness I'm feeling at the moment. Nothing to say at all, as my tongue got bit by a cat.. I'm totally speechless. I heaved a deep breath to collect myself together.. Sighing like my life depends on that thing. I looked around. I felt isolated. All alone in the room with a beeping monitor, blinding white light, feeling confused and scared at the same time. Perhaps I should sleep now, hoping that tomorrow when I open my eyes once again everything is in its own right place. I looked at the ceiling and slowly closed my eyes. Waiting for the darkness to engulf me again and it did.
"Good Morning sir", a nurse woke up me from my slumber.
"Good morning too". I groan politely. He smiled at me, then the door was opened and the doctor entered..
"Good morning Mr." The doctor is looking directly at me.. I gulfed and only managed a nod.
"How are you? Feeling okay?"
I hummed before answering ...
"Yes, I'm good.." but I still don't remember what happened to me. And once again, look at the doctor.
"Any updates?"
"Do you remember anything?" the doctor asked without looking at me.
"Hmm. No, I don't remember". I sigh.
"In that case, I determined that you have amnesia".
"Retrograde amnesia to be exactly". He looked at me and sensed that I was confused at what he was saying.
"You, Mr. have a Retrograde Amnesia".
"It is one of the kinds of amnesia where the patient can't remember a tiny fragment of their memory like you". "It seems that you had very bad head trauma that causes your memory loss". "I suggest you stay here in the hospital for a few days for further examination if ever there are other part of your brain got affected."
My mind is yet to process the findings of the doctor....
"Hmmm. Sorry Mr. but I should go now. I have a lot of patient waiting..."
" Everything will be alright". The doctor smiled at me and left me with his little assurances..
"Yeah, everything will be okay".
"You should never lose your hope". "Everything happens for a reason. You're blessed for being alive." I was surprised at the sudden burst of the nurse. I only nod ..
He smiled at me and offered a handshake before saying, "I'm Vrihh Supphong. I'm a nurse on train here". I accepted his hand for a brief shake and said,
"Sorry I don't know my name.."
" hahhaha, Yeah I know." I felt I had red cheeks for the moment. I just want to lay down now and cover myself with a white sheet. "Sh*t.. No need to be shy, just tell me if you remember a name, okay?".. I didn't bother to reply.. I just only hear a soft click of the doorknob.
I breathed out and looked again at nowhere. Trying to remember. Even a single thing about me. But I just heaved a sigh again.. until darkness devoured my soul.
"Do you remember when we were together on a trip?" "You look so happy and full of life." The voice starts breaking into sobs.
"Ali, please, wake up". "Wake up, Ali. It's been a long since". "We miss you so much ... please, Ali.... Ali....." the voice keeps echoing in my mind, repeating every word and then.......
I'm awakened again by the same pleading voice saying I should wake up. I'm confused as to what really happened to me. A sigh escaped from my parted lips. It's been stressful days. 5 sleepless nights because of that dream and I'm starting to hate it. But luckily it's my last day here in this hospital. I'm doing fine and the results are good, as the doctor says. I walked towards the doctor and he told me what I should and shouldn't do. Finally, I can breathe fresh air. After a minute or so, I bid goodbye to my attentive nurse and doctor. As I walked out of the hospital door with a smile. I called a taxi and hopped in. I give an address of a certain friend I made in the hospital. His name is Vrihh. He's a trainee in the hospital. He is an extremely nice and funny guy. He's also my close friend in the hospital. I have a good feeling whenever he's near me. I wonder why. Maybe because he is the only person to first approach me without hesitation. He convinced me how life is worthwhile the second time around. Sir, we're here. I was cut off from thinking more. The taxi stopped in front of a huge condominium building. After paying the driver, I got myself out of the taxi and stopped for a little bit to look around. The place is classy and has a good ambiance. I stopped my sight at the front door as I saw a familiar figure. Vrihh!! I excitedly shouted his name to get his attention. Ali, hi.. how's the trip? .. fine ... I smiled as I looked at him... Come, I'll show you my condo unit. He grabbed my hand, dragging me inside the building. On the way, I can see the glamorous chandeliers, fortune- worth paintings and some attendants doing their job perfectly. It's a high-class condo.. Vrihh might live with a silver-spoon.
