Chapter 2
-ALi Hean's Point of View-
When we finally reached his unit, he opened the door and let me inside.. He let me sit on his couch and asked me," What drink do you want?"..
" Anything is fine".. I answer. After hearing my answer, he walked towards his kitchen. Leaving me scanning his place. I looked around. TV, pictures, a window on the east side and two doors, that I guess is a room. His unit is very neat and organized.
"Here's your juice, Ali".
"I hope you feel comfortable being here". He warmly smiled at me as he spoke..
"Thank you, Vrihh for letting me stay here for the meantime and helping me find who I really was". I sincerely utter.
"Ali, know that it is nothing". "Everything will be fine soon if you believe that it will, so for now let's help each other".
"And what friends for, huh" I nodded at him,as I appreciated his care towards me. I take a sip of the juice and let the coldness of the drink run down to my throat.
"Come, I'll show you, you're room". "It's the one on the right side".
"It's a guest room. I have cleaned it already, so if you want to rest, feel free".
" I'll be right beside you in the other room. Knock on my door, if you need anything, okay?" I nodded.
"Thank you again". He only smiled and walked towards the door as he entered the room. I lay down on my bed. I sigh.
Today is a tiring day. "Who is the real me?" I suddenly asked myself... Knowing your name, parents, birthday, and such makes you know yourself. I may forget because I need to. Or the other way around. Blinking into nowhere for a second, then I found myself falling trapped in my slumber.
The wind blew right in front of me.. I can see the fading image of the sea birds flying above the mysterious and dark blue water of the Pacific. The green grass keeps swaying back and forth. Dancing to the whisper of the silence song of wind. While the waves are banging the cliffs like a cave shaped by waves of waves from time to time. Creating these beautiful and majestic cliffs. The sound of waves under me seems soothing. Calming my soul. I look at you, welcoming me with your warm smile. I wonder how people keep smiling because of pretending. I can see through your eyes the same sadness I am feeling right now. I saw you with the green grass swaying. I saw you. Your smile, your eyes and your silent cry. I saw all of that like an image engraved in my mind. I wanted to stop for a minute or so just to have them again, not fading colors that seem to blurry your vivid image with one snap of a finger. I once again looked at this peaceful scenery. Hoping that the strong wind it has can blow away the sadness we have and mend our broken soul by the song of the crying waves soon enough.
You accidentally turn your eyes on me. You draw a smile as I pay you one too. In this place, the blue sky is tinted as white as snow clouds. The sun is quietly rising from the east, giving light to the blue sea. It was like heaven on earth. You looked at me again with your hoping eyes. My heart skipped a beat for a second that made me stiff. I fall intentionally into this place at this certain time and think I unintentionally fall too into you.... I guess this is the summer I want to stop. Stay on forever, still hoping it'll never end. A summer with you and me.
I was awakened from my not-so peaceful slumber because of a knock on the door. It's been a week since I dreamt about that man and a week spending my days searching for my true identity. I remember my vivid dream with a man I don't know who. The dream is blurry and so like the man's face. I only saw his sad eyes and pale lips that wrapped into my cold heart and frozen memories. A blurry summer that surely engraved into my mind and soul.
With constant knocks on my door, I'm back to reality.
"Ali"? "Are you there"? "Ali"? Vrihh called with such excitement and knocking nonstop. He could break the door any minute now. So, with no further I do's I walk quickly towards the door and open it...
like Taadaa!!! A very excited Vrihh came into view.
"Yes"? "I'm here". "Sorry I drifted to sleep". I softly groan.
"Hmm", he hummed with overloading excitement.
" I found something", he sang with glee, then gave me the papers. I looked at him and shifted my attention to the envelope.
" Open it", he say as he drag me down to sit in the couch. I opened it and read the papers. I looked at him with pure shock.
"You found me!!."
Name: Ali Hean Corpuz
Age: 23 yrs. Old
Birthdate: 29th day of October, 1997
Parents: Lyn Torres Corpuz (deceased)
Cyd Corpuz (deceased)
B.A grad, No relatives, bank accounts etc.. that is the information written in the papers. My eyes stay still in a certain part are "Parents".. I suddenly became sad. Mom and Dad are both dead. Mom and Dad, those words seem foreign to me. I sigh and look at Vrihh.
"Thank you so much for everything". I uttered as I let so tears to fall. I guess this is what you call grieving for everything I forgot.
"Oh, Ali, sorry for your loss". Vrihh pull me to give a hug...
"Everything will be okay soon". He patted me for made a comfort and assurance that makes me calm for a little bit.
"Thank you ... so much". I say my gratitude with a sob. Vrihh wipe out my tears...
I shh him .. "bro stopped being clingy".
"Tss, stay still and let me be okay!" "I'm just concerned".
"I only know the pain, but I don't feel it at all". I stated I was just sad that I don't even remember them even a bit. I sigh... Maybe it is because you forget the memories, so you forget the feelings too. I wonder how that happens. Mourning for a forgotten memory is much more difficult than grieving for one's soul.
But forgetting is much easier when you’re in pain. Remembering is just the price of guilt. Pain itself makes us human.. I'm just a human. Time and space stopped before me and it did bring me a vast emptiness. I'm like a hollow. I wonder how I'm alive. I wonder how I will live.
I'm definitely loss.
I'm alone in nowhere.
I'm lost and cannot find the way back home.
Cause maybe I'm just a human. Perhaps I should have died. I may choose to end up here. I choose to be a loss than to keep that imagined home.
